We had an overall good experience while we stayed in W Hotel. We arrived early due to a red eye flight. Check-in wasn't until 3 pm, but Fatima from front desk was able to check us in right away when we got there. This was a relief as we were so tired and we needed to leave our belongings to start the day.
I suggest you contact their concierge to help you plan your trip to Chicago. I was in contact with Eden, the concierge, before our trip and she was very helpful. She gave out suggestions on places to go and restaurants to eat and definitely helped in planning and making reservations for our big group. When I met her at the hotel, she remembered me and was very warm and welcoming. She never failed to assure us that she is more than happy to help if we needed assistance.
You can describe the interior of W Hotel to be a mix or chic and modern with the elegance of classic architecture. The immediate entrance to the hotel is not so pretty...but wait until you get to their nicely decorated lobby. They have a second floor as well that was uninhabited. And since I was on a trip with friends, this was a good place for us to hangout. It was quiet and the lobby had fee wifi.
The rooms were small, in my opinion. They don't have a view given that the hotel is situated with other buildings in the middle of downtown. One flaw was that the bathroom door gets caught with the room's door...and so if the room door is opened, the bathroom door opens too. Their bathroom has sliding doors with no locks. Countless times that our washroom breaks were interrupted because of this.
The hotel has their own lounge but it needs a bit of updating. It needs more music to liven up the already dark mood. However, having their own lounge was a plus because you have the convenience of having a good drink with your friends while your room is only an elevator ride up. The Korean chicken wings were tasty!!
Great location as it is only a short walk to the Willis tower and a few blocks from State St, Michigan Ave, and The Bean. I would definitely go back!
