Had another work meeting here and it was another incredible stay. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated with great views of the city. Probably one of the best hotel mattresses I've ever slept on. The amenties are nice, e.g. shoe shine, NY Times delivery, and the sitting area outside the bathroom next to closet is very convenient. Service everywhere is gracious, attentive but not overdone. We had working lunches/b'fasts and the food was delicious. Housekeeping was also fantastic -- nice touches such as neatly arranging toiletries underneath a handtowel, clothes were folded, just a great working environment if you have to leave the office.

Room Tip: top floors are always nice - ask for rooms facing the lake

It has been a while since I've spent time in a truly luxury hotel. The Peninsula does not disappoint. The rooms are average in size (we were in the "cheap seats," otherwise known as a superior room) but nicely appointed. The most stellar service was in the turndown department...not your average mint-on-your-pillow comforter fluff. Anything my wife or I had accidently left sitting around was folded, organized, and returned to a more proper place. Towels were replaced, mood lighting and music was turned on, and the room was left spotless. Again. ...and just when I was thinking I didn't need a hotel with turndown service!!

One small complaint (and only because I saw the same problem in another review) and one caution. Our room was not ready at check-in time, nor were we notified by a phone call when it was. We requested a one-hour-later check-out on the back end of our stay to better time our flight home, and that was denied...which seemed odd in light of our forced late check-in time. Also, be aware that downtown Chicago can be noisy with sirens and horns, so bring some white noise to mitigate that.

The bottom line: We love the Peninsula, its perfect location, and the temporary breath of luxury it infused into our lives for three amazing days!

Out suite was absolutely beautiful overlooking the city, it was a small luxurious apartment. Would have given 5 starts but staff was just mediocre, not very friendly or helpful, they should be for the price you are pay for the rooms. If you want a great massage go to the spa and ask for Valerie she is fabulous.

Room Tip: corner suite

Just got back from a weekend in Chicago. This was our second time staying at the Peninsula and once again it did not disappoint! It is expensive, but worth it. The service is excellent. The rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable. I have stayed at many luxury hotels and this one ranks about as high up there as you can get.

I read all the reviews about this hotel being the greatest ever. It is not! Don't get me wrong, the hotel is very nice, but again if you are paying 700+ you except Perfect. We checked in about 3PM, room is not ready. We are told they will call us when its ready, they never call, and we get back at 4Pm, I go to the lobby and they say the room is ready. I get to the room expecting my luggage there, its not, I have to call the desk to tell them to bring up luggage, otherwise it probably sit there. Internet service is good, after it has to be reset.

AC is running, very difficult to get the right temp in the room. the tv does not directly face the bed. The bathroom is marble and very nice, no complaints about it.

First day, the room was not cleaned until I told them.

Food in the morning, eggs are runny, sauage was cold. Lunch was good. Orange juice is tasty.
Swimming pool is very good, 100M on 19th floor

I was there for 3 days. I enjoyed staying there on someone money for a meeting. Overall, the location is very good, just off Michigan Avenue. But unless you have money to burn, their other locations in Chicago almost as good, at a much lower price.

Room Tip: Walk around a bit, use L to travel to other places around Chicago. Restaurants are the most expens...

I've stayed at this hotel many times in the past and it wasn't until I just experienced another "luxury" hotel that I felt remiss in never having reviewed this one! It truly epitomizes everything you'd expect from this type of establishment. The comfortable beds & bedding, the luxurious towels and bath, the in-room amenities, the lighting - everything has been carefully thought out with every need anticipated. Should you ever be asked for a Chicago hotel recommendation, you can rest assured that any guest who stays here will be completely satisfied.

As a first time visitor to Chicago for a recent 3 day weekend I could not have dreamed of a nicer place to stay than The Peninsula. I've stayed at many luxury hotels and this ranks as one of the nicest on every level. The Peninsula is all about the lovely details that I so appreciate!

I stayed in a Grand Deluxe room that was beautiful, comfortable, and spacious. I had a fantastic view of Michigan Avenue (Magnificent Mile) that was always buzzing with activity as well as the outside patio below on the 7th floor that was festively decorated for autumn with hundreds of pumpkins. This room had everything that truly made this stay feel like my home away from home plus every high-tech convenience imaginable: the multifunction, bedside electronic control panel that allowed me to control the TV, radio, the ac/heat, the lights in the room, the privacy button, and housekeeping button was beyond awesome; the panel next to the door which displayed the outside temperature and humidity was extremely useful, the over sized executive desk was fully functional including a fax machine in the drawer; 42" plasma-screen TV and radio that could be moved so it was easily viewable from all parts of the room; complimentary high speed wireless and wired Internet access; dual-line telephones with voicemail, and much more. The marble bathroom with another TV and radio system that could be controlled either by the vanity or while in the tub, the comfy bathrobes and slippers, mood lighting, and Oscar de la Renta toiletries was all pure luxury!

The hotel also offers several delicious restaurants plus 24 hour room service which we took advantage of a few times and were always very pleased. On our first night we unexpectedly received a complimentary fruit platter that was really nice after a long day of traveling.

The service here is impeccable from the concierge to the doormen and valet to the housekeeping staff. The hotel's website describes it as "where far Eastern graciousness meets with Midwest hospitality"; that perfectly describes my experience here. And you absolutely cannot beat the location. It is in the heart of Chicago's Magnificent Mile conveniently located to everything fabulous in this great city.

I could go on and on about all of the special details that made my stay so memorable, but you must experience it and have the pleasure of all the little surprises that await you. No doubt this is an extravagant splurge, but not one you'll regret. Absolutely loved it!

Room Tip: Expect city noise if you're facing the street; perhaps there are other rooms that aren't fac...
