What a cool place! Young, hip, urban, happy and very professional staff in a hip, cool hotel. Our king room was a tad small but not NY city small, the bathroom was a normal size. Furnishings, lighting, paint, murals all new and hip throughout the hotel. Hotel elevator doors and fire escape door had murals making them fun....one of the elevators had a note attached to it one morning that he had a sick door and the doctor had been called.....this place is very affordable (booked thru AAA) and in a great location to everything Chicago has to offer downtown. Red line is 1-2 blocks away, restaurants all around in the 10 blocks surrounding the hotel, Redheads piano bar a block away open til 4-5 am. Alex and Megan quite helpful at the front desk. There is a "free" breakfast of sorts every morning, danish, small quiches, cereal, etc....no restaurant on premises but again, all around the neighborhood. They even have a "free" small thermos of coffee delivered to your door every morning at whatever time you want. They knock and they leave it outside the door for you in case you are in the shower. Creamers, sugar etc are in the room but no coffemaker in the room. Beds are good, rainfall fixture in our room was fun. Our room had no view to speak of, but that's not a knock and not why I was there. The only knock I have is that young people aren't very quiet when thy ramble in at 3 am and the maid could be just a little subtle atrting her rounds in the am. I will definitely stay here again and probably everytime I come back to Chicago!

Hello Mark1npt,

Thanks for all your great feedback, we truly do appreciate it. We apologize for the elevator's “sickness”, fortunately, the “Doctor” was able to bring it back to health in short order! Our location is in a prime position for vacationers, business trips, or even just a little shopping excursion. We’re located just off the Magnificent Mile, and less than a mile from attractions such as Navy Pier, Millennium Park, John Hancock Building, Water Tower Place and Willis Tower just to list a few. If you're looking for nightlife, you came to the right place! We have countless bars, restaurants and night clubs within walking distance of our property. Our staff is equipped with recommendations and suggestions that we love to share with our guests. Being in the downtown area, many rooms have a limited view of a building next door, however, our Suites and City View Queens have great views of the city. We do apologize for the noise at 3 AM. While we believe that everyone should be able to have fun, we also believe everyone should be entitled to a good night's sleep, so please inform our staff regarding any noise problems and we will take care of it. Look forward to seeing you in the future!

We came to Chicago for business and the meeting was in the Conrad, but even at the corp rates it was very pricey. after the meeting was over we moved to the acme I had seen it on one of the booking sites but it looked too good to be true. However the Tripadvisor reviews were great so I booked and we have been here two days and have been very impressed. the retro remod is a little funky but all the surfaces and furnishings are new and fresh. when moving from one hotel to the Acme we called to see if we could check in early at that time they had no rooms ready but offered to check us in and store our bags while we did some shopping but by the time we arrived our room was ready and John was full of enthusiasm, even sent a bottle of champagne to our room when we mentioned it was our anniversary. the breakfast is like most of the other quick hotel breakfasts but was a nice touch compared to other downtown Chicago hotels and they bring a thermos of coffee to your room in the morning if you sign up for the service. the location is perfect just a couple of blocks from Michigan ave and two blocks from the train that can take you to O'hare or almost anywhere you want to go. kudos guys we will stay here again.

Room Tip: if you want a view of the city ask for a city view room however is the city noise keeps you awake as...

Hi tkcraveler,

Thanks for the kudos! We'd like to think we are too good to be true. You may be surprised to know that our amenities are comparable to hotels with 5-star prices, but at a much more reasonable rate. Our staff is willing and excited to help our valued guests. Can't wait to have you back!

Had the opportunity to visit Chicago this summer and loved it. My husband looked into making reservations while there on business for us to return for a personal trip. He encountered very poor customer service and lack of interest in having us as guests at several other well known hotels.

Then he stopped into Acme and was met with enthusiasm, and excellent customer service to ensure we got a reservation for when we wanted to visit at the best deal.

When we arrived not only was everything ready but the front desk staff even recognized my husband and remembered we were visiting for his birthday! The rooms are decorated in a very Urban Chic decor, everything is new, comfortable and super clean. This hotel is classified as a Boutique hotel and deserves the recommendation. We loved it, and would definitely stay there again! Our room had a king size bed and living area with a pull out and kitchenette.

Parking can be negotiated into your stay, continental breakfast is included and you're in the heart of downtown. it's walking distance to groceries & liquor, great dining and shopping, clubs and many of the must see sites of Chicago. It's a short subway ride to Wrigley Field and the older parts of town.

You'll love it!

Room Tip: The gym also looked fine, but we didn't try the hot tub.

We haven't been to Chicago in a very long time and were in town to see the Madonna concert at the United Center. I came across this gem on Groupon. We got lost thanks to Google maps and missed the hotel at first. It is tucked in and easy to miss. There is a neon sign in the window that says ACME Hotel company. The atmosphere is very nostalgic. When you enter the elevators, they are lined with old album covers. There is also a lot of graphic art around the hotel and in the rooms which I thought was a neat touch. Our room was the standard king. It had a view of a brick wall but that was ok. It was for my hubby and I. The bedding was very comfy and clean. They provided robes but they are not for plus sized people. Not a big deal. There was a small seating area and table in our room. All the fixtures are brand new. The half glass partition in the shower didn't work for my hubby. He ended up getting water all over. Another plus is it is within walking distance of everything you want to do in Chicago. We walked from there to Navy Pier and down the Mag Mile. It's about 4 miles away from the United Center but cabs are readily available. The bus we needed to the united center took us about 40 minutes to get to on foot. We loved the complementary Continental breakfast and a newspaper was waiting for us when we awoke. The staff is also very friendly and gave us directions around town. I also loved the wired aspect of the room but directions to the ipod alarm clock may be helpful. I had no clue how to use it. We would love to come back with our family but aren't sure how big the other rooms are?

Room Tip: No noise at all on the 5th floor inside.

Hi tinkmom2,

Thanks for referring to us as a 'gem.' Our style is retro, yet modern and comfortable. It's one of those things you have to see for yourself to describe! The city view queen rooms offer a beautiful view of Ohio street facing north in the direction of the Hancock tower. Our suites are perfect for family getaways. Parents can relax on one-side of the suite while the children can have their own fun on the other. The suites have a view of the city as well. Thanks for choosing our hotel!

After a 13 hour drive from Virginia, we were pleasently greeted by the front desk at the Acme hotel. They were very friendly, professional, helpful, and knowledgeable about the city. This was our first time in Chicago, so we had a lot of questions! The hotel was very uniquely decorated in a very fun, chic way. We reserved a king suite, and were not disappointed. It had plenty of sitting room, very comfortable beds, and great views out the window. The morning coffee delivery was a great touch. The free breakfast available until their restaurant is built was very delicious. We were up in Chicago for a music festival in Humboldt Park, and a lot of the bands chose this hotel to stay in as well, which made for a real surreal experience. The price could not be beat either!! Anyone going to Chicago: Stay at this hotel. The location, price, atmosphere, and courtesy of the staff made the trip unforgettable. Thank you so much, ACME Hotel!!

Room Tip: One tip: The parking garage is just before the entrance to the hotel. Drive in, get the parking tick...
