“38th Revue a thumbs up!”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We had seen Second City on NCL cruise ships, so wanted to check out the real deal when visiting Chicago. As luck would have it, one of the cast members from the NCL ship we were on was also featured in this show! A lot of reviews I read complained about the seating. I didn't find the closeness as troubling as the fact that my view was obstructed by the way the seats were laid out. That was a bummer and sort of detracted from the first act. Everything was really funny, though, and the improv bits were definitely the best. I felt like there were bits to appeal to every type of audience. My personal fave was the one with the young couple at the doctor's office inquiring about vaccinations. We're heading back to Chicago and checking out Depraved New World so that should be a good indicator that we enjoyed it!

“Depraved new world = hilarious”
Reviewed 13 June 2014 via mobile

Saw a "Depraved new world" while visiting Chicago and it was the highlight of our trip. The sketches were much in line with our current society. I liked that they did not need a big decor or props to entertain us. Huge bravo to the cast!

If visiting Chicago, get there early to visit the neighborhood. Nice little shops/bars/restaurants on Wells street, part of old town.

“Pretty good”

We saw the "incomplete guide to everything" at the UP comedy stage. It was pretty funny but a bit uneven. Is probably try one of the other shows instead.

“A comedy institution”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

This was one of the first comedy clubs and is still going strong. We saw "Death by Evening" -- a showcase for some of their newer talents. It was a bit uneven, but a few of those on stage looked like they might one day be stars. Price is great: $10 per person. They make their money from drinks, but you can get a soda for a reasonable price.

I assume that this show changes every few months, with different names, but the equivalent is on Tuesdays and Wednesday.

“Funny funny funny”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

Thoroughly enjoyed the show at Second City. Have always wanted to go. My son's bought us tickets and it was a lot of fun. Ended up being pulled on stage to participate in a silent movie skit which was a bit embarrassing but also funny. Would love to go back.
