“Come here to see the giant silver bean!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2014

The famous silver bean is here! My bf told me I wouldn't be able to see it during my first visit to Chicago because I was still in pain from surgery on both feet and couldn't walk that far. Such a disappointment... but then miraculously on the last day of my 5-day visit, I was finally strong enough to walk to Millennium Park... and then lo and behold, as we were walking... I saw the giant bean!!! Oo la la, my visit to Chicago was finally complete, LOL.

This is a pretty nice park, and we saw a lovely outdoor amphitheater on the way to the edge of the lake. I guess this park is right next to Grant Park, which was the site of Lollapalooza for the weekend, but I didn't get to go there. It was kind of nice to see some green nature in the middle of the city, but everything was pretty manicured though.

“Memorable and fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2014

Chicago knows how to do big public spaces and Millenium Park is one of the latest examples. It opened in 2004, missing the intended celebration of the millennium by a few years! It’s best known for Cloudgate, the polished reflecting metal sculpture popularly known as the Bean because of its shape. Interestingly, it’s composed of 168 stainless steel plates welded together but the highly polished exterior has no visible seams. It’s lots of fun and draws a crowd and is the focus of the park.

The Crown Fountain is also popular, especially with families and kids. Two towers of transparent glass bricks are at opposite ends of a rectangular wading pool. Kids love to frolic in the water. The towers become a video sculpture when faces appear on them at regular intervals and are fascinating for the technology involved.

The park also includes a very cool band shell and performance space for music, and other events.

Go visit. You’re sure to come away with some memorable pictures.

“Water fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2014

The park has several interesting light sculptures, including the famous changing face, that involve flowing water. It was nice to see folks out at night playing in the water, from babies to adults. A very chill vibe.

“Not much to add to other comments”

What a great venue, Eat at Park Grill. Music in the Pavillion and of course, the "Bean", the water splash park, sculptures and more. Ice skating on Michigan Ave from November to March-weather permitting
