Ate here with two biz colleagues during a weeklong conference on the suggestion of some local friends. As your server explains to you, food is sourced farm to table so everything is quite fresh. The menu changes regularly, so you may have something different. I had the pan seared rice cake made with rice crisps and melted cheese. It was incredibly savory and somewhat like a gilled cheese sandwich, sprinkled with micro greens. I followed with the salmon which was perfectly moist, sitting atop a type of lentil stew. While the portion was not large, it was sufficient to fill me up. My companions each enjoyed their entrées as well. Wine list is clustered by style/body and was reasonable, not excessively priced. Service was friendly and attentive. The only thing I found to be on the downside was the noise level. The restaurant is all hard surfaces, which echo and emplify the lively atmosphere. At times it was hard to carry a conversation.

We had a wonderful meal at Perennial where the specialty is in-house preserves and pickled everything. That may not immediately sound enticing, but the combination of perfectly-prepared seafood (in our case) with a variety of surprising, delicious veggies and fruits was a great taste adventure. The pickled perch appetizer reminded me of a favorite Scandinavian Christmas salad, with apples, radish, and celery root in creme fraiche; the addition of Meyer lemon was terrific. Putting the scallops in beet and blood orange sauce was genius. I love walleye anywhere, but this dish was art, not just lovely fish. We ordered a side of spring ramps and our comment that we felt they were a bit salty (not sure why - the dish included salsa and mushrooms?) was taken very seriously and we were not charged. Everyone was very warm and friendly - even the Lincoln Hotel valets! Overall, this was a comfortable, pleasant experience with very special food.

There are no words only analogies that can describe our dining experience. Your first O, your first kiss, your wedding night, the birth of a child, or your first successful marathon. The service is great, the food is so unique it cannot be described. I will never visit this town again without joining my friends that work and manage the Perennial Virant. As a self described foodie, don't take this review lightly. I assure you one of the best meals you have ever experienced. ENJOY!

We had wonderful meals here, in an upscale atmosphere that was elegant but not stuffy. No one in our party of 7 was disappointed! The wait staff was very attentive without hovering; the menu accommodated both vegetarian and gluten free needs. Every dish was delightfully presented and the portions were just right. And the taste of some of our dishes just amazed us - unexpected combinations, and so delicious!

Since we stayed in the Hotel Lincoln, we tried both their dessert (after dinner elsewhere) & a full breakfast in the morning. Great chèvre fritters--hot, crispy, not too sweet with delicious jam & honey for dipping/topping. For breakfast, everything was very good--they make their own excellent bread, the eggs were tasty, oatmeal (with a fruit compote) & granola with yogurt all perfect. Highly recommended.
