I stayed in Hyatt Place Chicago River North for four nights. The hotel is pretty new, it has a nice room space even if you have to spend some time working in it. Bed was nice, clean, but a little bit soft for my taste. Bathroom clean and functional, no tube for tube lovers, I really don't care. Breakfast nice, complete, but simple at the same time. The only thing I really want to complain is about the noise that came from the air conditioning, it was too loud for me and the air flowed directly to my bed which was not really comfortable.
At the end of the day, I recommend the hotel.

This is a very well located hotel. The location in River North is near the Loop (you can easily walk when it's not winter) and Michigan Ave. The rooms were well laid out and well taken care of. As with most Hyatt Places, the breakfast in the morning can be pretty frantic with a whole building's worth of guest trying to feed themselve from the buffet. Not the hotel's fault, but something to keep in mind in the morning. I chose to skip it.

The hotel sits between and Aloft and Fairfield Inn - and they're all connected. Make a wrong turn in the basement meeting space and you end up in a different hotel.

The best thing about this place is it's location in the midst of a wealth of River North restaurants, so finding someplace new and interesting is easy to do.

Many othe reviewers mention the fire station. Yes, it's nearby, and you do hear it from time to time, but it's not that annoying.

We found this hotel way cheaper than any other hotel in Chicago, but I don't understand why. It was a great location and the room was great. We had road construction on the street one night, which was not the hotels fault, but we could not hear it in our room. Also concerned about sirens since we were near Northwestern. We could hear them but by the time we went to bed, we did not hear any sirens. Great stay overall!

From the second we pulled our car up to the valet parking, the staff was charming, helpful and funny! I recently stayed here only one night as part of a bachelorette celebration. We didn't want to mess with finding the parking garage, so we opted to pay the higher cost for their in and out valet service. The men who helped us unload the car were witty and pleasant. As we checked in, my two friends. enjoyed the comfy and relaxing lobby area.
The man who checked us in then gave us a quick tour of the main level, including the breakfast area where we would enjoy our complimentary meal in the morning. One of the men who had unloaded our car for us then showed us to our room, gave us a quick insight to all the amenities in the room, and assured us that the plants growing on the roof-top greenhouse next door was NOT what it looked like (ha ha ha)!
The room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and everything we could've wanted. The breakfast selection the next day was great! Biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, fruit, toast, cereal, yogurt...these were only some of the choices. The only downside was the coffee that smelled and tasted like licking an ash tray. They did offer Starbucks drinks, however, so the day wasn't totally lost ;).
The location was also amazing. We were just blocks away from great night time entertainment for our bachelorette (Howl at the Moon is very close), and in the morning we were only blocks away from Portillo's for a great Chicago style lunch.
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. This time I went with friends, but it would be perfect for a family, or couple trip.

Its great to see a Hyatt Place in Chicago and this hotel lived up to all the expectations of previous Hyatt Places. The room had the new generation of Hyatt Place design. It is consistent with other Hyatt Place experiences and I would return. Staying in Chicago many times / year, I usually stay at hotels that are highrise style hotels. Unfortunately, I was placed on the 2nd floor. No issues, however the street noise was very loud. Hyatt Place, knowing this provides ear plugs at the bed which was helpful and very proactive on their part to making their guests stay more comfortable. I would definitely return to this property and am looking forward to it.

Room Tip: I would try to avoid lower floors if you are sensitive to street noise.

This hotel just opened this year is all brand new and sparkling. The rooms are very comfortable and well-appointed as are the public spaces. A full hot, breakfast with great variety is included in the price of the room. And the staff are friendly, helpful, and poised to please. This is just a great place for tourists who can walk to the river and take the splendid architectural boat tour or for business travelers looking for a convenient in-town hotel.

I enjoyed the line in your review where you describe our staff as being "poised to please." We are fortunate to have staff that genuinely cares about providing friendly service to our guests. I hope you enjoyed the architectural boat tour. Chicago is a beautiful city, isn't it? We are honored to be part of the skyline, and to have you as our guest.
