The Langham certainly lives up to its reputation. The design of the hotel, the gorgeous rooms and bathrooms, the jaw dropping spa, and the friendly helpful staff makes this hotel my first choice in Chicago. The zen like pool is a added bonus. After long days in the city, we could not wait to return to this sanctuary.

I have become a recent fan of Langham hotels, having stayed in Langham properties in Melbourne and Auckland. The new Langham in Chicago was much anticipated; our expectations were nicely rewarded. For a center city hotel in Chicago, the rooms and bathrooms are quite large. Floor to ceiling windows provide exceptional views, including one from the very large soaking tub. Fear not, however, electrochromic glass can be activated to blur the view into the bathing area from outside for those with Victorian sensibilities. The hotel sits on Wabash and the river, a choice location.

Tiffin (that's afternoon tea, folks) is a Langham forte (I'd put an accent over the 'e' but this program does not have that capability); ninety minutes well spent. The sole restaurant delivers fine fare and a particularly outstanding breakfast. Being able to order from half a dozen "eggs Benedict" variations is a true treat.

T'aint cheap, friends, but unlike some competing Chicago hotels having venerable names, the Langham delivers excellence and value.

Room Tip: each floor has VERY long hallways. If you have difficulty walking, make that fact known to the reservationist.

The hotel is wonderful, as one would expect at this price: elegant, beautifully decorated, great location, attentive staff. The spa and pool is glorious. Great steam room in the locker room...The bar is very elegant, and Kevin the barman is very good. The only room for improvement would be for a more informal place for snacks and coffee, especially breakfast, I would rather grab a pastry and run - But that's just a little cavil. A really great experience.

Just returned from four glorious days (and nights) at the Langham. Our hotel selection was based on a recommendation from an American Medical Association staff member headquartered in Chicago plus the plethora of glowing reviews posted on TripAdvisor. To categorize this hotel as a 5 Star does not do it justice--more like a 6+ or even a 10! Our expectations were exceeded tenfold, even after perusing the favorable ratings.
The hotel is ideally located--two blocks west of Michigan Avenue boarding River North and the Loop. The decor and furnishings are contemporary (not my favorite style), but warm, welcoming and impeccably clean. What really sets it apart from other 5 Stars (Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton take heed) is the wonderful service and amenities. Staff could not do enough to satisfy and accommodate. No request was overlooked/denied. Everyone, most notably Chris Baum, Concierge, made us feel honored and treasured. The amenities are over the top--loofah, nail file, bath salts, talcum powder, mouthwash, complimentary shoe shine--in addition to the standard assortment of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap. Bathrooms are equipped with bidets, plush, highly absorbent towels, robes, even slippers. Bed linens are of the finest quality and the mattresses are conducive to a blissful slumber. Lights, drapery openings and closings operate digitally. Everything is state of the art and functionally flawless. I looked for things to criticize, to no avail.
One TripAdvisor reviewer wrote that special occasions are sometimes rewarded with upgrades. After securing our reservation, I phoned the hotel to announce our upcoming 50th anniversary. We were subsequently upgraded to a very large room (736) with an expansive view of the Chicago skyline overlooking the Chicago River. In addition, complimentary chocolate candy bars, accompanied by a handwritten note, were delivered to our room as an evening treat.
We enjoyed Sunday brunch at Travelle, the hotel restaurant. My husband raved about the pancakes, claiming they were the best he had ever eaten.
Within the course of 40+ years, we stayed at many swanky properties. Yet, to date, no other place can compare to the outstanding accommodation and quality care we received at this extraordinary hotel.

Room Tip: For a spectacular view of Chicago, request R For a spectacular view of Chicago, request Room 736.

In my view, and I have stayed in most of the top-rated on countless business trips, this is the best hotel in downtown Chicago at the moment. Exemplary service and genuine hospitality. Pristine and completely comfortable rooms and common areas. Simply cordial and top-drawer. Stay this way, please!!
