Every holiday I have is full of Bittersweet deliciousness!. Here are a few things we consistently order.....Apps: Tomato/artichoke quiche (light and fluffly and if you're not careful will be your whole meal), best mini brioche buns Chicago has to offer. Cookies decorated as if you expect them to come alive in a cartoon (and yummy too!). Crème brulee (vanilla goodness), chocolate covered macaroons, Apple pie, tiramisu, carrot cake (layer upon layer of decadence), mini tarts (every flavor combination you could imagine). Anyone of their cookies will hit a home run for your guests. We order 2 pounds every year and rarely have any leftovers. I've had 2 baby shower cakes done here and they copied the shower invitation onto the décor of the cake perfectly. No matter what you buy here and serve, your guests will be blown away. Jimmy Contino has always treated me like family. Even dropping a pie at my house that I forgot with my order. I really love Bittersweet. It's an experience in it of itself going in.

I love everything they have, from the croissants and eclairs to the wonderful macaroons. The salted carmel macaroon is the best but they are all good. And the huge croissants are buttery and wonderful. I couldn't keep from stopping in each time we walked by. And the people at the counter were so friendly and helpful. Great stuff.

Ordered a delicious lemon/raspberry yellow cake for 50+ people. Look beautiful. Parking at bakery is tough, we got a $50 ticket, be careful. Lines are long but move fairly quickly, can be elbow to elbow while waiting inside.

Judy Contino, chef-owner, was recently elected to the Chicago Chef's Hall of Fame, a well deserved honor. The baked goods, including many different cakes, macarons, tarts and cupcakes are outstanding. The cafe has a limited, but excellent menu. No one makes better soups. Quiches, salads and sandwiches are also very good. All in all, a great value for delicious food.

Stopped after dinner for a pastry and coffee. So much to choose from. We enjoyed White Chocolate mousse tart which delicious. Cheesecake was excellent too. Not inexpensive but we'll worth it. Tables for sit down service. Also serve sandwiches and soup.
