“Oysters good but everything else just average”
Reviewed 2 December 2013 via mobile

Nice selection of oysters which were expensive but fresh. The rest of menu was just average and expensive for what you get. Wasn't that impressed with key lime pie either. With so many other good restaurants around I wouldn't spend my time on this one.

“Great seafood place, affordable”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

This was our first trip to Shaw's but won't be our last. Came on a Sunday evening and sat in the Oyster Bar. Fun, vibrant, real . . . Especially when the live jazz kicked in at 7. The place is not pretentious, the food is excellent. Service very good. Had a classic Caesar salad and then the Nantucket scallops -- wonderful. You can spend quite a bit more at Joe's and have a guaranteed perfect meal . . . . But to me, Shaw's is excellent and you can get in, for much less $.

“Extremely disappointing”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

We cannot recommend this restaurant. We made a reservation via the concierge at our hotel. When we arrived we were told they were running a little late and we would be seated in fifteen minutes. There was no place to sit in the bar while we waited and thirty minutes later we were not seated. When we enquired we were told just six or seven minutes more. The staff were unapologetic. The atmosphere was hectic and disorganized. At this point, we had little faith in the truth of the time prediction. Apparently, a reservation means little at this restaurant. We left and had a great dinner elsewhere so cannot comment on the food.

“Yum”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

Went for lunch and returned the next night for dinner.
Lunch of oysters, crab, Bloody Mary's and football. The location is divided with a more casual set-up on one side and a more formal dinning side on the other. Varied menus to fit each side.
Service is outstanding, food consistently fresh and delicious.

“Seafood Done Right!!”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

I. HAVE. NEVER. PAID. SO. MUCH. FOR. ONE. MEAL. IN. MY. LIFE!! Quite honestly, for this quality meal, I'd gladly do it again in a heartbeat. This was one unreal dining experience and despite the fact that the prices were astronomical, the food and the service were on point and the company made it even better! Shaw's Crab House came highly recommended by a friend and I see why. Aside from terrifically fresh and delicious seafood, this restaurant apparently prides itself on customer service and they did not disappoint. We had the oysters on the 1/2 shell, the fried calamari and I ordered (with no intentions of sharing) the King Crab special which was both the steamed Alaskan Golden King Crab and the steamed Alaskan Red King Crab Legs with a baked potato as my side. I'm sure I heard harps play when I had my first bite......it was divine. From the pure taste of the succulent crab meat to the flavorful drawn butter, which only enhanced the flavor meat of the crab, it was worth every penny and I enjoyed every bite. This restaurant should top your list when visiting Chicago. You'll be mad if you don't go there and bite that crab leg back!
