“Reuben's, Steak and Eggs, Obama's breakfast place”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Who could ask for more? The staff at the counter were great and so were the people delivering food to the tables. The Reuben with thousand island dressing was to-die-for good, and we also loved the Steak and Eggs!

“Chicago family vacation”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Stopped here based strictly on trip advisor reviews and close proximity to science and engineering museum and close to bus line. What a fantastic place for breakfast. Great food, low prices, good service in a great atmosphere. French toast like I had as a kid back in the. 60's

“Good, cafeteria style”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Was in Hyde Park and went here with friend after hearing it was one of President Obama's favorite places. It's a cafeteria set-up where you order food, get it put on tray, then take it to seat. Menu had OK selection, and pretty inexpensive. Servers were friendly, though a little hard to understand. The roast beef and mashed potatoes I had were quite tasty! I didn't order from it but there's a list of the things President Obama usually orders.

“Nothing special, just plain good”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

It's a well established neighborhood institution in Hyde Park, Chicago, and somewhat of a touristic attraction as it is also one of Obama's local favourites. The atmosphere is relaxed and the decor is very simple. The place serves breakfasts all day and that what i would go for. The food portions and taste are good. It is not great, and it's priced accordingly. We've had breakfast over there several times and we sampled most of their breakfast menu. Everything was average, nothing was exceptional and nothing was bad.
However this is not a place to lunch at, certainly not for kids. They don't have kids menu and the selection is not appropriate for that.
All in all, nice for breakfast, if you have little one, go elsewhere.
