We haven't been to Kamehachi since they closed to main location downtown, so this was our first trip to the Wells Street location. It was worth the trip! The asparagus beef rolls and the tempura green beans were excellent! I had the salmon which was fantastic and my Queen had the sea bass and very much enjoyed it. The food was wonderful. The only knock was that he service wasn't very good. I don't know if our server was new, but she struggled. I had to asked several times for silverware and drink refills. One appetizer in our group was forgotten and she forgot the wine order. The worst part is that it wasn't busy, so I'm sure what was going on. That's what knocked it down from getting five out of five. Despite the service, it was still a great meal and we would o back!

We almost walked right by Kamehachi, and were blown away when we stepped inside! The decor is so elegant and richly textured, yet very understated. Fabulous atmosphere. Our waitress, who sounded Eastern European, was knowledgeable and helpful. We had the goma ae, a dragon roll and their special double spider roll. All were exceptional. I loved the presentation on the goma ae. We chose them because of good reviews and proximity to second city, so if you're looking for a good pre-show spot, this is it!

Very good flavor and great ambiance. The sushi menu for rolls is a little limited, but the ones we tried were good. The summer roll is quite spicy, and good. Unfortunately the special spicy tuna wasn't very spicy.
The decor is very nice and service was good.

We found this restaurant by accident! We expected it to be a run of the mill Japanese restaurant but it superseded our expectations by a million miles. Everything was tasty and tasteful! The tuna sashimi was as smooth as butter, the shrimp tempura - well we could have eaten two of those dishes if we not decided that we had to keep room for the beef tartare - yes unusual in a Japanese restaurant - but exceptionally fresh and tasty. Presentation of all the dishes was beautiful and the ingredients of the highest quality. I must emphasise that the two martinis - yes two - were made to perfection. It was a faultless dining experience and very easy on the hip pocket. Its in the old town of Chicago - so situated in a lovely area too. Tony - our waiter - a sweet patient young man with a strong customer orientation. Go if you can:-)

We came after a play at A Red Orchid theater- so we were later but appreciated the quite scene. the beautiful interior was inviting- we sat at a bar table up front so we could watch the street scene. we didn't have a full sushi dinner- just wanted a cpl rolls + a glass of wine. the sushi we enjoyed was really fresh + tasty. the service was right on... was a perfect late night snack!
