Get to this show before it leaves town. I would definitely see it again. Very high energy, great music and dancing. It's not a show for kids or if you are easily offended by the f- word. It is irreverent and hilariously funny poking fun at religion. But the show is really about people figuring out their path in life and what's important. It's story will also capture your attention. Loved it.

Most of you have heard how good it is from others... it was that good. The cast was very talented. The songs were the perfect blend of musically well done and comically genius. Sat in row D, had no issues with visibility... also, pay the extra to sit up there. It's much better to be up close and see the cast actually acting. Emotion is a big part of most musical theater, and seeing it makes it better.

After hearing friends rave about The Book of Mormon for many months, I finally purchased tickets to the Sept. 20 show as an anniversary present to my husband. He's been a fan of South Park from its start, and I really enjoyed the South Park movie, finding the songs in particular to be very catchy and clever. I hadn't read much about this production and had even forgotten the bare outline of the story, so my perspective on it was fresh, and I was pleasantly surprised by many of the numbers.

Others have written about the irreverance, the profanity, etc, but I found the show had an underlying element of sweetness as well. I'd urge all Chicagoland fans of musical theater to see this production in its final weeks for one over-riding reason: Ben Platt, who plays the nerdy catalyst, Elder Cunningham. Platt is a 19-year-old phenomenon who is destined for stardom, in my opinion. (He also played Benji in the movie "Pitch Perfect.") I understand that Platt's take on the role of Arnold Cunningham is a bit of a departure from the Broadway version, but undertaken with the full approval of the show's creators and directors. I really enjoyed his performance. While all of the musical numbers were quite spectacular, Platt's break-out number "Man Up," and his duet with Nabulungi, "Baptize Me," were both wildly entertaining and quite moving.

Amazing company of young energetic actors that can sing & dance. Spoofs most organized faiths...not just the title one but in
a gentle amusing fashion. One of the best original new musicals.

So glad this show was extended through September! Exactly as rumored, wildly inappropriate and offense and profane and hilarious. Definitely not suitable for anyone under 18 or the deeply religious. You will probably still blush at some of the numbers. The actor/singers are extremely talented. The energy and expressiveness on stage is amazing. Ben Platt is a standout! Kudos also to Syesha Mercado. The music is fabulous and the show screams by too quickly. Disappointed the playbill does not list the musical numbers or the acts. Perhaps the show changes at some performances? We did the matinee.
