The Watershed has a welcoming and laid-back relaxed atmosphere. It was the perfect spot to stop and spend time with friends in an otherwise busy sightseeing day in Chicago. I was immediately surprised at how comfortable it made me feel.

If your grandparents lived in the north east most of them had basements and a good deal of those used the space to entertain and serve drinks. The Watershed is the sophisticated version of my grandparent’s basement; dim lighting, comfortable seating and the feeling that your grandmother is upstairs baking you a pie at that very moment.

I have to admit that I am not the biggest bar goer (an understatement) but if I had a bar like the Watershed local to me I might reconsider my position. The $10 cocktail menu caught our eye after we sat down and we made our selection and started to soak up the atmosphere. Several drinks in we asked our waitress for a recommendation and she suggested the Italian Gray hound and it proved to be the favorite of the night.

This experience really was the cherry on top of a great trip to Chicago. Any future trips to Chicago will include time spent at the Watershed. Do yourself a favor and visit this charming bar and get to know more of the relaxed side of Chicago.

Watershed (below Pop's) is an awesome place that I never would have found without help from a friend. It's a cozy little basement bar and is great for enjoying a night out after a show or on a date. They have a great selection of beer and creative mixed drinks - I've been back on multiple occasions and have always found something fun to try! I also enjoyed their food menu, particularly the fries, risotto, and cheese curds. It does seem to get pretty busy as the night goes on, but is definitely worth the wait!

We had a long day and wanted to relax over a few drinks at a low-key bar. We heard about this little basement bar (it is below Pops) and walked in to find a short line waiting for it to open. We got choice seats at a booth being among the first to arrive, and we immediately served with menus. They have a great selection of craft brews, and a delicious Sazerac (its among the best I've ever had). We ordered some bar food and if you are hungry, be sure to get the Garlic French Fries, and the Deviled Eggs (best I've EVER had!). The chicken wings were pretty insipid, so I would stay away from those (even Sriracha didn't help). The bartender was friendly and helpful, so was the hostess. It does become a bit hard to get their attention once the place fills up, and believe me, it does. For a little quirky bar, it does a lot of things right. Be sure to stop by for their local brews and their tasty finger food! (Great for date night too!)
