A friend always suggests we should try the Grand Lux and I am so glad we did. We arrived at 5 on a Monday night and sat right down. The place is beautiful but it is acceptable to be casually dressed. Our waiter was wonderful. We had a couple sandwiches, pizza, and Memphis ribs. The portions were huge! We ordered desserts too and would not have if we knew how big the meals were! But they were delicious too, especially the warm vanilla cake! We will visit here again!

“Good lunch, quick and tasty”
Reviewed 11 August 2014 via mobile

We stopped in while shopping the Magnificent Mile and were surprised by how nice the decor and ambiance was.

The service was quick and pleasant, the food was great as well. We had the spaghetti marinara, chicken parmesan, a turkey/Brie/apple sandwich and the manhattan salad. The portions were generous and tasty.

“Good Food, Fast Service!”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

Went here on a Friday for Lunch with Family at 130 PM.
Seated fairly quickly (within 10 minutes)
Service was prompt, kids food was some of the best "chix fingers" i've seen :-)
Wife and I had salads- All fresh ingredients and served quickly.
A little pricey for lunch, $70 but had 2 cocktails :)
Ask to sit in the dome area overlooking Michigan Ave, Great View!

“Superb food and table service - although seating process needs work”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

I've eaten here twice, and I truly believe the Grand Lux delivers some of the best food for the money that one will find. There are small plates, medium plates, and full meals, with prices ranging from under $10 to around $35 for some steaks. (Highly recommended: Sunday night spaghetti, chicken pot pie.) The dessert menu is one of the best you will ever encounter (be sure to note the eight or so desserts that must be ordered along with your entree because they are baked to order).

The dining process, once one is seated, is well-organized, and service is prompt. The system accommodates separate checks very well. The only area of challenge is the queueing process for tables - unless I've missed something, they will not take reservations on weekends, and waits for moderate to large size parties can extend well past an hour. Unfortunately, they do not have a good waiting space, although they do use a phone text service to tell you when your table is ready - so you can wander along Michigan Avenue during your wait. Surprisingly, one will often encounter a lengthy quoted wait time even as one observes numerous empty tables of workable size in the dining area. I am not sure how their table allocation system works.

Overall, I am going with 5 stars for the outstanding food and solid table service. I only wish they would improve the seating process.
