Good stuff
Arrived early, but able to safely leave bags until check in
Secure, can't get in without being approached by security
Convenient, a matter of steps from blue line, walking distance to centre
Large room, comfy bed, great views , quiet

Not so good
A few hobos loitering in immediate area , but I didn't feel uncomfortable

Stayed overnight with my husband. Great find, great price, bed was comfortable, view was awesome it felt like we were the only ones there, very quiet. On the downside, quirky entrance 2 elevator rides, to get to room, room decor was quite dated but who cares. Health club not open on Sundays which they don't tell you online when you book If you are not from Chicago it is off the beaten path a bit, but walkable to many Chitown hotspots. I still think it was a great find and we would definitely go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in 4007 had a view of Lake Michigan and Buckingham fountain.

Stayed with my wife for 4 nights at the Buckingham Athletic Club. I can tell that this is a very interesting experience for all of us who are not afraid of the different. First of all, the hotel is in the last floor of the stock exchange...is a one floor hotel so it is not for those who like lobbies and bars and restaurants, etc, etc. On the other hand, is a very private hotel (which we appreciate, we prefer to appreciate the city not the hotel, although the view from the rooms were amazing!). The rooms are outrageous...kind of a junior-suite, with a large bathroom....I was told that the hotel was a private club in the 80/90s, which reminded me of Tom Wolfe's book/movie "The Bonfire of the Vanities". In our case, all the problems appointed by other hotel evaluators, as having to change elevators, old style room keys, etc, etc, were more a funny thing that a real problem....Our only concerns where the lack of blackout courtains and the fact that the staff didn't change bathroom amenities once in 4 days. Breakfast in the weekend (continental) was also restrict for those who need to have eggs, bacon, etc (not our case).

Room Tip: All the rooms have amazing views!

We booked this hotel because we have never heard of it. The price was with in line and looked forward to going. The mission of the trip was going to see "The Book of Mormon" at the Bank of America Theatre. Awesome show! The hotel is on the 40th floor of a FInancial District building. Parking was an adventure, to say the least. I will make it easy for you. Drive into the basement, even if the door is shut. The door will open for you. Registration for the hotel is on the first floor, on the west side of the building. After you check in, you are directed to a bank of elevators and you go to the 39th floor. Once there, you exit that elevator, get on to another elevator to the 40th floor. We had 4014, once we were let in, we were in awe of the view. Our room was a bit dated but well appointed. The king size bed was very comfortable. There was a big flat screen and a mini bar in the room. The bathroom was a very good size, with just a bath tub that has a pretty high lip to get into. Our view was directed to the North, but we could see the lake and the tip of Navy Pier, other wise there were buildings every where. Breakfast is included, and since we were there on the week end, Continental Breakfast was served in room on the same floor. During the week, we were told that a made to order breakfast, was served on the 3rd floor, near the Athletic Club. Overall, we really liked the hotel, and won't hesitate to go back. That part of the City offers a whole different experience than staying North of the river.

Room Tip: Get a room on the east end to get a full lake view.

I even hesitate to share this since I want it to stay a nice little secret and keep the prices down, the clientele exclusive and the accessibility excellent. Jaw dropping views of Chgo, right in the heart of skyscrapers. At night you feel like you are in a sci fi film on the 40th floor looking at all the lights. Fireworks at Navy Pier 2 nights were a bonus! Totally private and quiet - no partying fools or toddlers running around. Once in a while you can hear a siren or an L train but otherwise you will think you are in your private penthouse. Flat screen TVs, thick towels, top of the line king size mattress and Keurig coffemaker are amenities. The pillows are kind of lumpy - if youre used to down, bring your own. Central to the financial district but within walking distance to the Loop and several fast food places nearby for lunch and breakfast, but breakfast is included (scrambled eggs, potatoes, fruit salad, fresh fruit) and outside the gym on 3rd floor each am. Minibar has a frig if you want to BYO treats or buy theirs. Sure, the security is tight (duh its on the 40th floor of the Stock Exchange) and you need to change elevators ONCE! but it adds to the mystique and fun. But if you cant hack that, all the better! More for those of us who love this place! Close to Union Stn, you dont need a car. In fact, parking is prohibitively high and you dont need a car in downtown Chgo anyway. Concierge Angela could not have been more gracious and accommodating ! 4 thumbs up from us!

We got stranded in Chicago after a flight got delayed, and could not catch connecting flight. We hotwired a hotel, and this is what we got. We were not impressed with the hassle of having to go though many locked/key card only access gates. It was not exactly fun having to take two different elevators to get to our room. However, the view was great! The train yard is right below, but you can't hear it at all on the 40th floor. The key is VERY large! I am unsure how my husband held it in his pocket while we looked around. Breakfast was good. The room was a little outdated for us, and the shower head did not have great pressure. We wouldn't have paid the hotel's full asking price, but a great deal though hotwire!

Great hotel if you don't mind being in the loop/financial district. I am a member of the athletic club so the rate is extremely appealing to me. Great views, great gym, and rooms are very nice. Only downside is lugging around the big metal key, but you can leave it at the front desk if you do not plan to be out too late.

Room Tip: Only 20 or so to chose from, but all are great!
