Amazing that most of the audience had the opportunity and experience to attend Catholic school. Too bad for those who did not. For those of you who did not attend, you made our afternoon extremely enjoyable. The re-encounter the nuns exhibit bring back the most realistic memories, both bad and good.

“Royal George Theatre”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

We saw the comedy act "Old Jews Telling Jokes" here a few weeks ago.
Small, intimate theatre. There are no bad seats as far as I could tell.
Sound system seemed to be ok. We didn't have trouble hearing.
Cash bar was available in the lobby.Seating was comfortable.

The washrooms were the big gripe here. Only one sit down pot in the men's room and three urinals with NO Dividers between them. I didn't want to see the Old Jews hanging out in there.

The ladies washroom had a line of 20 + waiting to enter.

A parking tower garage is located about half a block south on Halsted. It was about $13 for two hours.

“Old Jews Telling Jokes”

A must see even if you are not Jewish. Laughs all the way through. Some of the jokes may be a bit hard for non-Jews to understand, but the underlying humor is there. There is some language that is not appropriate for children. There is one video clip of Alan King an old time Jewish Vegas Comedian. It does show that you don't have to use bad language to be funny. Great way to spend 90 minutes. The theater is great, you can see and hear from any seat.

Yes, that's the name of the presentation. Suzanne the Concierge at the Sheraton Towers in Chicago set us up with last minute tickets - balcony (at the Royal George Theater). We were glad to get them on short notice. While my guest and I are gentiles, we totally enjoyed the jokes from another culture although we did not always "get it". There are four monologists taking turns with ancedotes on growing up jewish (or just plain growing up in general with comments on life as we live it no matter our religion). Very funny and an enjoyable evening. Our seats were changed from balcony to 4th row.since it has just opened in Chicago after a stint in New York.

“You don't have to beCatholic to enjoy this show!”
Reviewed 23 September 2013

My sister and I went to Royal George Theater to see the Late Night Catechism show. It is the longest running show in Chicago and even though I had seen it before in Milwaukee, I thought it was worth seeing again. It is a one woman or "Nun" show. The actress performing was extraordinary and I never laughed so hard. It is a very small venue but that works well for this type of performance. There is also a small bar in the back for patrons.
