Visited the Rebar at the suggestion of my wine loving sister-in-laws after a nice 3-hour boat.cruise and have to share the disappointment of the majority of our group. We were there the weekend that only the TRUM was up on the much debated giant TRUMP sign.
The service was good and it looks down over the Chicago River. But the red backlighting, clusters of battery powered candles and worn furnishings reminded some of us of a cheap stripe joint. How can this place look so tired in a building that is only a couple of years old and just getting its signage up? After a couple of drinks, with half of our group having ordered only Cokes or coffee, we got a bill averaging $14 a drink (to which I added a 20% tip). No need to return here.
