“Italian Food Amusement Park”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

We went here on a Saturday afternoon. It was crowded but not as insane as December. Parking is available across the street for a reduced fee (up to 3 hours, provided you spend at least $20).
Is it chaotic? Yes
Is it confusing? Yes
Does it offer good food and merchandise? Yes
Is it worth a visit? Yes

Before you go, check out their website. In my opinion, the confusion begins there. It could be presented more clearly, but isn't. This continues when you walk through the door. But relax, it's an adult food emporium for everything Italian. We enjoyed many great delicacies and had a great sit-down pizza/pasta lunch. I found items that I've needed for various recipes that I've never been able to get before. Their staff helped me find it and even kept looking while we were eating and brought it to us. While this is amazing customer service, it also shows that even the staff doesn't always have a handle on where things are.
I would definitely go again, but am better prepared having been there. Go slow, get your bearings, don't get frustrated by the crowd or the noise and eat/drink your way around.

“Noisy, busy, but fun”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

A wonderful selection of foods and goods downstairs, then upstairs to eat. Very busy, not a place to relax, just refuel,
but food OK, not brilliant. Expensive for the size of dish.

“Dinner at the Insane Asylum”
Reviewed 27 March 2014 via mobile

This place is a nightmare--two floors of complete chaos. All the signs that are supposed to give you some direction are in Italian. The focaccia bread was tasty, but we had to eat it standing up with plastic utensils that would not cut it--nowhere to put our coats. A chair would have been nice. There was sit down dining with lines and lines of people waiting. Random groceries were everywhere. The design of this place is insane. This is a glorified food court run by chefs. The food was delicious but the atmosphere was cause for indigestion. Put the groceries downstairs. Put all the food stations on the periphery and open seating in the middle. The sit down restaurants can have a spot too, but not in the middle of everything. It's not that hard to figure out!

“A Must in Chicago”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

As I a love Italian meats and cheeses, Eataly was a must stop on our recent trip. The varieties of foods available were terrific and the layout was very pleasing. Our service at the meat and cheese counter was superb, being given several samples. We later returned to the Salumeria and purchased a fine meal for our evening. Service and quality make this a must stop in Chicago.

“Great food, ok value”
Reviewed 26 March 2014 via mobile

My gnocchi at lunch was great, but $19 for five gnocchi and no sides at what is a fast casual cafe is over-priced. But it's a good place to go if you're solo.
