I'll skip to the end, then go back to the beginning: The next time I visit Chicago, unless I am staying for free with friends or on business that requires me to stay downtown, I will be staying at the Wicker Park Inn. From start to finish, including via phone with the innkeeper before my wife and I even arrived in Chicago, both the people and the inn itself made our recent weekend trip to Chicago smooth and comfortable.

The inn is a comfortable bed and breakfast in a well-upgraded townhome-style building just off of Milwaukee Avenue, one of the main drags in Wicker Park. It's a little bit of a walk from the Damen train station, especially in the snow, but manageable. Our room (the Chicago room) was comfortable, and the en-suite bathroom was well-appointed. (My wife and I don't smoke, so the fact that the smoking balcony in this room was tiny and would have overlooked an alley just between the inn and the CTA train line didn't bother us.) The inn has a nice complement of snacks to nibble on all day, and of course has breakfast between 8 and 10. Breakfast itself didn't have much in the way of hot food, but had a good selection of other continental favorites, and we had already planned to be hitting some of the neighborhood brunch places anyway (there are some excellent ones in the area).

The on-site staff, Zaira and Angelica, were friendly, professional, and also accommodating when my wife and I asked to check out slightly later than the stated checkout time of 11 a.m., even though they had another arrival arriving for our room for later that afternoon.

There's a drugstore just around the corner and your pick of unique restaurants and nightlife hangouts within easy walking distance on the way out and easy staggering distance on the way back.

All in all, a great place to tuck in for the night after a long night out in one of Chicago's best neighborhoods.

The Inn is beautiful. Very nice and clean rooms, fantastic breakfast buffet. Checking in was a bit dicey. You need to arrange it ahead of time or won't get in. Even then... Location is only a pleasant walk (in good weather) from the Wicker Park retail district, or a short drive in the snow.

Stayed here while visiting the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago. There are no hotels in this area only a handful of B&B's, this is a nice one located centrally to fun shopping and great eating! Very near mass transit line but didn't affect sleep. On a quaint residential street one block away from N Milwaukee!

Since our children grew up, split suburban Atlanta, and settled into the hipness of Chicago, we've been searching for a place to stay when we visit. Roscoe Village was nice but pretty remote. The downtown hotels are also nice but a little predictable. The big box hotels out by the airport were a little less pricey, but a long drive in to where things were happening. Since both son and daughter have landed for the time being in Wicker Park, the Wicker Park Inn seemed a logical place to try this Thanksgiving. We are glad we did since we could easily get to everything one would ever want visit in the city on foot (with a little help from the nearby CTA and an occasional easy-to-hail taxi). I'm only sorry we were so busy that we didn't get to take up the offer for a log in the fireplace in the Wicker Park Room on the street-side ground floor of the Inn where we slept on a king bed more comfortable than the one at home. Breakfast was just up a short flight of stairs and included a lot more than we have ever needed for breakfast. Couldn't eat much else and still be able to walk the rest of the day. Everybody was friendly and eagerly helpful, even on a holiday. We would recommend the Wicker Park Inn to anyone needing a nice bed and breakfast near downtown Chicago. Thanks! Maybe someday though, the kids will get bigger spots to share with us and some little ones to boot. Hope springs eternal!!!

Room Tip: No swimming pool or fitness center but at least in the front of the Inn, the El was just a distant a...

Delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We love hosting folks visiting family and friends in the neighborhood. Wicker Park has so much to offer and access to downtown is very easy. Location is great for public transportation, parking, and night life. The room was extremely comfortable and well-appointed, though not extravagant. Staff was very hospitable and attentive. The El nearby really did not disturb us at all. The coffee and pastries were outstanding! This place will definitely be at the top of my list next trip!

Room Tip: The Tuscan room with its own entrance was nice when coming in at night, but you do have to go outsid...

Super comfy be, cute room and some very good nights sleep were had. Good shower too. The sound of the L train was slightly too close but it doesn't run all night. The breakfast was really nice every morning with fresh fruits, cakes and yoghurt.

Amazing location in Wicker Park, right off the main strip of shops, bars and cafes, and it's only about 15mins on the train into the loop, I was working at a conference on the magnificent mile every day and it was really easy to get there and back. If you want to stay in a cool area outside the centre then this is perfect - there are a tons of good places to eat, plus lots of vintage shops and independent boutiques rather than too many big chain shops and restaurants.

I would definitely stay in this area again next time I come to Chicago and would happily stay at WP Inn too.

Very friendly staff. Helpful with everything including room temperature. Website warned of loud train, but it wasn't very loud at all. Never got up in time for breakfast, but grabbed bananas and yogurt at will.

Room Tip: The Chicago Room has a nice little balcony to sit and relax on!
