“Smart accomodation with an edge close to Chicago Bears”

Stayed just the night and chose this hotel due to its proximity to Soldier Field, which was around a 15/20 minute walk. Good size room with a huge bathroom and very nicely appointed. We had great views over Lake Michigan and the park. The tube was a short walk from the hotel and can easily walk to Wacker/Michigan in 15 minutes. Friendly staff, good location and chic hotel interior.

We enjoyed a long weekend prior to Thanksgiving in the Blackstone Hotel. Absolutely WONDERFUL! The hotel is historic with first class ammenities. The room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The restaurant specializes in Spanish cuisine and has floor-to-ceiling, two-story windows that overlook Grant Park. The staff were helpful and efficient. A beautiful, fifteen minute walk along Michigan Avenue takes you to restaurants, shops and excellent city tours by the Chicago Architectural Foundation. Chicago lights up for Christmas on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. We will definitely return!

The hotel is a modern victorian classic. It's so chic and the perfect distance to all the fabulous goings on in downtown Chicago. Service was excellent. Workers are attentive and incredibly helpful. Loved the atmosphere and will go back!

Dear Wes,
It is an honor to be part of Chicago’s wonderful history and we are overjoyed you were able to experience the wonders our city provides. You should try and visit us in the summer where we have many outdoor events such as the Taste of Chicago or the Grant Park Music Festival, any time of year is a great time to visit. It is our pleasure to provide you with a pleasurable visit.

Just a fantastic hotel. Beautiful lobby, amazing interior design, everything looks brand new, the rooms are both big, with large marble bathrooms and walk-in showers, as well as contemporary fixtures and furniture. Comfortable bed, reasonably quiet and excellent, attentive service. There was nothing not to love about my one night stay.

Stayed there Nov 2011, booked via PL for 105$ a night (2 nights)...a bit pricy but was it worth it.

Arrived early (9h30AM) and was provided a room on the 6th floor with a good view of the Lakeside park across the street. Check in was super courteous and friendly. The room itself was just accross the gym entrance, and was huge. The bed was delicious (slept like a baby), the wall mounted LCD TV had close to 90 channels, a nice work station with a good chair and a huge bathroom (with shower only, but i'm a shower person myself) well appointed with good toiletries. A bathrobe was also available, as well as a safe (didnt use either). Very good Wi-Fi available for 12.95$ per day, not a bad price, but do keep in mind it runs noon to noon, so if you buy it at 9PM an evening, it will run till noon the next day, not 24 hours as in most hotels (management was kind enough to credit me one day).

The gym was quite big, well appointed with 3 of each ellipticals, bikes and treadmills, loads of Nautilus equipment, and freeweights. Also available are lemon infused and regular iced water, earbuds earphones, small towels, and cold damp hand towels. Nice view of the park mentionned above. Downside is that there is no pool, mind you, this is an older building (1920s methinks) so they did not build pools back then...didnt miss it.

The lobby is quite nice, mixing classic 1920s elements with modern ones. The concierge was super helpful, and provided me with maps and what nots. The business provides free internet access and printing (no gouging here) so I checked in and printed my boarding pass online for my return. There are a few restaurants on site, but I used La Bodega downstairs for my breakfast, 6.50$ for a breakfast sandwich and a fruit or pastry...delicious German sausage, with eggs, Mahon cheese, caramelized onion...a good deal (they have 5$ deals weekdays, so even better if your staying then). A few inexpensive places around also: Harold's fried chicken on Wabash, South Loop Club and a pizza place , KFC/Pizza Hut/DD on the same street....plenty of choice for cost conscious travellers.

Ran out of shaving cream, and within 5 minutes was provided with some Barbasol (travel size) and a good quality razor!

Only downside: there was a marriage going on my last night, sounded fun...but also loud! Given the 6th floor is the lowest guest floor, the music could be heard in my room...called the lobby and was offered a room on a higher floor...but since they told me the party would end at around midnight (and I was watching TV late), I stayed put and the music subsided by 11PM...went to bed then.

The hotel is 5-10 minutes walk from Harrison on the red line. Plenty of buses in front of the hotel...the CTA is quite good and efficient...all in all, good location!

In conclusion, I loved this place...hope i can get another good deal on PL for this!

Room Tip: use Priceline, as usual, and bid in 4 star south loop

Dear Lubiere,
What a delightful review. Your enjoyment really stands out through your writing. We love how you portrayed the bed as delicious and how you described our lobby as a mix of classic 1920’s with modern elements. We at the Blackstone want the lobby to capture a blend between modern and historic. Initially built between 1908 and 1910 the hotel has a magnificent past, including frequent visits from past presidents and even Al Capone used to have his hair cut in the barber shop. Each stay offers a new perspective and Chicago has variety fit for anyone, we look forward to welcoming you on your next stay.
Kind regards,
Cynthia

Stayed here while attending a meeting at convention center. This is a small, elegant hotel next to the park and lake but is south of the shopping/tourist areas, although it is easy enough to walk to those areas in the loop. It is very close to a couple of restaurants that I enjoyed (Yolk and Eleven City Diner.) I had an excellent stay overall. Upon check in I discovered I was upgraded to a room facing the lake and the view was outstanding. The room was clean and felt spacious due to the layout, although probably not much bigger than most hotel rooms. There was an alcove with a counter that could be used as a bar area, above cabinets which held the refrigerator. There was a desk and chair with a TV mounted on the wall above the desk, and another chair in the corner. The king bed was a bit soft but comfortable enough. I heard no noise from others on my floor; however there is quite a bit of ambient noise from the street outside so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. As usual it took me some time to figure out how to use the clock alarm; however when requested the front desk did provide me a telephoned wake up call that was perfectly on time. The closet was lighted and spacious, with a safe and a robe. The bathroom seemed bigger than average; the lack of a tub was not a problem for me and the "gap" that others have complained about (the sliding door to the bathroom) would only be a problem if your room-mate walked right up to the door and tried to peer through the gap. Hooray for Aveda products in the bathroom! Towels were also very good and plentiful. The shower floor was blessedly slip-free, but I would have liked a ledge to prop my foot when shaving leg. I also would have liked a lighted magnifying mirror (there was a small mirror on the counter but unlighted and therefore rather useless to me.) The gym was open 24 hours and had water with some lemons in it as well as iced water, and plenty of towels. Also had plenty of earphones for those who did not bring their own. There were TVs on all equipment (although the one on the upright bike was not working.) There were at least 4 treadmills, 4 ellipticals, one recumbent and one upright bike, and plenty of resistance equipment and free weights, and the room was spacious enough. USA today papers were delivered to all floors in the foyer near the elevators, not at the doors to the rooms. The concierge was outstanding, helped with reservations for dinner, also provided grooming supplies free of charge (provided shaving cream as I didn't have room to bring my own.) The staff in general were excellent, and seemed to like working there; I ran into the maids cleaning my room one day and they were most pleasant, and did a great job keeping my room clean. I did not use the restaurant so cannot comment on that. This hotel is truly a gem; the banquet room is beautiful, and those staying here should visit the Art Hall - there were numerous pencil sketches of famous personalities and they were excellent. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.

Dear Nadreck,
Thank you for your wonderful review. You really capture the essence of what a stay in The Blackstone entails. We enjoy making every stay as comfortable as possible. Chicago is blessed with many great restaurants, many of which are in our vicinity. Next time you are in town we highly recommend you try our restaurant Mercat a la Planxa where your taste buds will be tantalized by authentic Catalan flavors. Our navigators and ambassadors are very knowledgeable of the area and are always happy to lend a helping hand to ensure any need is met. We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to see you again soon.
Kind regards,
Cynthia
