We were here on business for a conference at the nearby Marriott. Location is great, but that's really it. We had a penthouse room with "direct access to the roof deck," but the door from our room was locked, permanently, so access was only possible through the hallway entrance. We were awakened at 4 am Sunday morning smelling smoke, then quickly realized it was from two idiots smoking cigars in the HALLWAY!
The comfortable bed was actually Murphy fold-out bed, which was, well, odd, and there was no dresser or armoire in the room, so it seems to function more as a hospitality suite when the doors to the adjacent room are unlocked. All in all, pretty drab. Lobby bar is dreadful, with a surly bartender, blaring techno music, and no sense of place whatsoever. All in all, very disappointed and won't return here. You can do better even at the Hilton Garden Inn nearby.

Room Tip: Rooftop rooms get rooftop deck visitor noise, as in drinkers and smokers drinking and smoking. You...

Dear neilandjeanne,
Thank you for your review. We hope you had a successful conference event during your recent trip to Chicago. Our sincere apologies for the cigar smoke fumes you detected from your guest room. We can certainly understand your frustration with this and appreciate you bringing to our attention. It sounds as though the penthouse suite was not to your liking, and we sincerely apologize. We hope you find accommodations that better suit you on your return trip to Chicago.
Best,
Guest Services

The hotel is not new but it is well maintained. I can't complain about the location, only a couple of blocks to Magnificent Mile, Restaurants, and other sights are within walking distance. The rooms are clean, and quite. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Booked this hotel through lastminutetravel.com. Got a great price for two nights. Hotel was in a great area of Chicago. Within walking distance to the Navy Pier and shops on Michigan Ave. It is about a 10 minute walk to the train station if you are looking to head to a Cubs or ChiSox game. The room was basic but very clean. If you like to work out, the gym on the third floor was perfect. They had free weights and a few treadmills. I would definitely stay here again. BUT BEWARE OF THE CRAZY PARKING PRICES IN CHICAGO.

Room Tip: The basic rooms are small. If you have a choice, book a suite. It might be worth it.

I have stayed at the Inn of Chicago many times. The rooms are nothing extraordinary. They are small with no extra ammenities. (Not even free wi-fi.) The place is not expensive and I think reasonable for what is offered. The walls are a bit thin so be prepared to hear everything going on in the next room. The hotel is in the perfect place, walking distance to shopping and even Navy Pier if you want to walk a little farther. There are a bunch of good restaurants nearby. After a long day out walking around or even a long day at the office the martinis at the Inn Bar are a welcome treat.

New, modern, but small rooms....surprisingly so. Easy to use check-in kiosk for airport in hotel check-in lobby...Lavazza coffee next door...convenient to MM.....

Not great deal, but fair for location....can be spotted from Hancock T!

Booked here for the excellent location downtown. You're right in the heart of the hotel district and somewhat near the subway and very close to bus stops. I'll say that we enjoyed our stay but there were some things that took away from the experience of a four night residence.
The biggest issue is the walls are too thin, we could hear our neighbors having loud conversation constantly (luckily they only arrived our last nights stay) and the service employees are quite loud in the morning (we came from the west coast so we needed to sleep in). The rooms are small, I'll call them cozy but we did find that two to a room is quite full with bags and other miscellaneous stuff. The room windows don't open which usually I don't mind but since the A/C-Heater unit is old I would've liked some fresh crisp air from our 20th floor perch. An air vent in the bathroom is good but not when it's loud and covered in dust. Bed was comfortable but lacked support, the mattress probably needs replacing or at least a monthly flipping.
On the positive side the lobby staff are helpful and professional; we got answers and assistance whenever we needed it. The lobby area is a nice hangout and adjoined next door
to a Lavazza cafe which was crucial to getting our day on the go! The elevators work fast and there are three which helps with rush hour. The hotel bar is a pleasant area and we got our drinks fast and strong, with an easygoing bartender. The roof terrace affords nice views but only offers services in the warm months. The A/C-Heater unit while old did work well. Shower was adequate with plenty of hot water for both of us even on such a packed floor.
We got lucky with the weather so the hotel was a great starting point for walks near the river and across downtown. There are some good restaurants located nearby and not too far with a little bit of footwork. If you can get a deal to stay here it's a good bet for a night or two.

Dear shocktop,
Thank you for sharing your candid feedback with us. We apologize that you were subjected to loud neighbors on the last night of your stay. We completely sympathize and also regret to learn that our housekeeping staff was apparently noisy during the morning hours. In regards to the mattress and bathroom vent, we will address these items with the appropriate departments and appreciate your honest feedback. We hope to be able to better serve you in the future when you return to Chicago.
Regards,
Guest Services

Our room was simple, very basic bathroom, bedroom. No fancy bedding or ammenities. But can't complain, it was a good value and we enjoyed our stay.
There was a group of loud guests that woke me in the middle of the night talking outside my room when they were returning for the night, but once they entered their room, I didn't hear them again.
Might want to consider parking at a train station and taking the train into Chicago to stay here. All the parking garages around there are 44 dollars a day, adds up quick! I felt like I rented a hotel room for my car when I paid for parking!
