The hotel is centrally located just a block off the Magnificent Mile. There are plenty of places to eat near by. The rooms are reasonably priced, but you get what you pay for. The rooms are very small and austere. Our queen size bed took up almost the entire room. The bathroom is downright tiny. Bing your own soap. They only provided a small bottle of bath gel and shampoo. A bar of soap would have been nice. If you are not going to stay in your room and want a no-frills place to stay, this is it. If you have small kids staying in your room, you will be pressed for space.

Dear H T,
Our hotel was constructed back in 1927, and the 21-story building was originally designated as one-bedroom residences to Chicago's most prominent figures of the 1920's. Therefore, the size of our guest rooms are smaller than other traditional hotels in the area. We understand that our intimate setting is not for everyone, but our hotel provides a historic and charming feel. If given another opportunity, we hope to welcome you back and exceed expectations.

This hotel is only located a block from The Magnificent Mile, making it an easy walk to shopping. We ended up here by booking on Priceline, and for the price, I was not disappointed. It is an older property, but I didn't find anything offensive as some of the other reviewers have said. We asked for a corner room, which we received, and it was clean and spacious. There is also a small bar in the lobby and a Dunkln Donuts right across the street. You could do better, but not at this price point. We'd stay again.

Excellent hotel location but the rooms and hotel are pretty old. Mine actually smelled mildly of smoke even though it is non-smoking. The shower was a bit weak. The walls were pretty thin and I could hear my neighbors on both sides pretty well. The bed was also not that great, although i slept fine on it (I'm not too picky, but can appreciate a better bed and bedding). I have had better bedding recently at renovated Motel 6s and other discount hotels that are improving their image and value. I have also stayed at better hotels in a similar location for a similar price and therefore would overall not recommend this hotel. But it meets my basic requirements and then some (warm shower, reasonably comfortable bed, dark at night; with bonus of great location).

Dear TexasMD2,
t disappoints us to learn if our accommodations fell short of meeting expectations during your time in Chicago. Our location is second to none, and that is what keeps many of our customers returning to us year after year. We certainly understand that our hotel is not a "one size fits all" for every traveler out there, but our team does their absolute best to make sure that our guests are as comfortable as possible during their stay.
Best,
Guest Services

The location was perfect. Very close to everything. Upon check-in we asked about an upgrade. We were able to get the Queen Suite. The first room we got the windows were not able to lock and cold air was coming through making the room very cold. We were given a different room a floor up. The room was clean and a good size. There were only 2 staff that were friendly and helpful during our 2 night stay. Roxane front desk and Victor conceirge. The others were rude. We found out that if you wanted internet it was free in the lobby if you brought your own labtop. Otherwise it was 6.95 for 15min. Overall we would stay there again for the price and location.

Room Tip: Corner suites are nice we could actually see a little bit of the lake from our corner room. The higher the better.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights for a conference and can't believe the conference committee actually selected this place. The first room they gave us was unbelievably tiny -- barely enough room to walk around the foot of the queen bed -- and, while it wasn't dirty, it wasn't exactly clean either. Slight water stains on the ceiling, window heating/AC unit, tiny bathroom. I would have been okay with this (the conference rate was exceptionally inexpensive), but that night we learned just how thin the walls were. Our next door neighbor was up until 4 in the morning arguing with various people on the phone, and as a result I got only a few hours of sleep (a big problem when you're in town for work). The staff was helpful enough the next day -- they got us into a new room quickly and without hassle. Even though the new room was much better (clean, slightly larger, more windows, etc.) it was still very dated and the walls were still very thin. Luckily, we had quiet neighbors this time around. Unluckily, our bathroom was (if you can believe it) even smaller, with literally only enough room for one person to be in at a time. Also, there were three *tiny* elevators...but the entire four days / three nights we were there, one was out of order. For part of the stay, a second elevator was out of order. Several times, I had to wait over five minutes to get an elevator. Overall, I'll admit the hotel is in a good location and that the staff is friendly (although not any more than I'd expect anywhere else), but even if the price is cheap I can't imagine giving the place anything more than 2 stars. It was astoundingly poor quality despite the price. Unless you're used to living in a frat house, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dear annejan27,
It disappoints us to learn that your guest room accommodations fell short of exceeding expectations during your stay. The historic Inn of Chicago hotel dates back to 1927, so the size of our elevators and guest bathrooms are smaller than what many would expect of traditional hotels. We hope to welcome you back for a much improved stay if given another chance in the future and promise to exceed your expectations!
