“Location is its highlight”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

Most of the good and bad about this property have already been posted but check in was incredibly slow. The lifts are tiny and slow. The cleanliness of this place left MUCH to be desired. Bits of candy were discovered under one bed and a fine layer of dust covered nearly every surface. We had to ask for an ice bucket and clean towels because only one set was in the room with double beds. We were put in a room right near the service elevator so there was no need for a wake up call. Housekeeping and their foul language were more than enough to disturb our sleep.
Location is perfect if you want to shop along the tourist trap of the Magnificent Mile or eat at any of the well known pizza places but I will pass on this place our next trip to Chicago.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher room so you don't hear the ambulances as well as one away from the service elev...

Rooms are a little small but with so much to do in the area we don't even care! Staff was very welcoming. Walking distance to Navy Pier, shopping and tons of restaurants. There is even a Trader Joes within walking distance.

I am a travel agent from Ontario and booked a group of 52 seniors into the hotel for a three night stay. I have had so many phone calls praising the staff, rooms, food, management etc that I can see why the majority of the reviews are good. The group concerned are frequent travelers so have many experiences with hotels both good and bad. This hotel is far and away top of their list with many going to return with their families in the near future.
Location is excellent. Staff very welcoming and attentive. Rooms spotlessly clean and comfortable.
We had Marques the catering manager set up a private breakfast buffet every morning which was extremely well received.
I would have no hesitation in booking this hotel in the future.

Room Tip: We had 28 rooms and all were excellent

It made me fall in love with Chicago, shopping was just a walk away. If you want to see sights it was in a good location. I thought the blocks was long but they was actually shorter then i thought. The employees was very nice. I thought it was great that my need was just a text away.

Rooms are a little bit small, especially the bathroom, but well is Chicago. Valet parking is good but sometimes busy, it would be great if they hire more people to help with cars. Location is perfect but makes it noisy at times, even inside the hotel since space is reduced you can easily hear whatever people are saying in the aisles while you are trying to sleep. Staff is friendly, although I wouldn't recommend this hotel when traveling with kids.

Dear Moises E,
Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback with us. We are categorized as a historic boutique hotel in downtown Chicago, originally built in 1927. The layout and size of our guest rooms is unique and more intimate in size compared to other cookie-cutter traditional hotels nearby. Please be aware that we do offer various sized guest rooms throughout the hotel, and would like to invite you back for a different perspective.

This is a decent hotel with a great location. The staff is very friendly and the front desk sends a personal welcome text message. Just a warning for anyone that may be claustrophobic, the elevators are very small. The picture of the bar looks somewhat big but it's actually small. The bartender is very nice and makes really good drinks. The terrace is nice and the rooms are outdated. BATHROOMS are tiny. The smallest I've ever seen. If you're not looking for a luxury hotel, but want clean and affordable with a nice location then this place will be suitable.

Dear fromsuntowind,
The Inn of Chicago is one of the Windy City's best kept secrets, offering exceptional service just steps away from the heart of all the action. We are aware that some of our public spaces are a bit smaller than your traditional hotel down the street, but that is what makes us unique! The Inn of Chicago is promoted as an affordable urban retreat just steps from the Mag Mile. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back again soon.

The location is ideal for Michigan Avenue tourists. The lobby is small but nice and the desk staff is pleasant. The room is functional--no sign of luxury. This is an older hotel and the fixtures in the room look inexpensive and worn. However, everything is clean. I appreciated the double-sheeted comforter. I would much rather touch plain clean white sheets than share a decorative comforter with previous guests. The pillows, however, were not great. The AC/heat unit worked well with no sign of mustiness. There is a small coffee maker in the room with styrofoam cups. The toiletries are basic. All in all, the decision to stay here should be driven by prices. I got a great price on hotwire. I have seen this hotel priced much higher on other days and would prefer other hotels if paying more than $100.

Dear csgc,
Thank you for choosing to stay at the Inn of Chicago! We are happy to read that you enjoyed our pristine accommodations, central location, and great value proposition. You are definitely right...double-sheeted comforters are much more inviting than old-fashioned decorative comforters. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back again soon!
