I stayed here twice on this visit - at the beginning and the end of a work trip. The first stay, I was in an upgraded king room (221). It was heavenly - spacious, quiet and comfortable. They had clearly renovated since the last time I stayed here. Gone was the old tube TV - hello flat screen! My only complaint was that the TV didn't get the Hawks game (no NBCSports channel). The room was clean and well situated, with a huge closet, desk area and adequate bathroom. When I came back a few days later, I stayed in a queen room (430). The staff actually had done me a favor by upgrading me because when I made the reservation, the only thing open was a double. It was equally renovated with a nice TV and decent furnishings. However, this room was right next to the very active elevator and the ear plugs they provided couldn't block the vibration I felt every time the elevator landed on the floor. Avoid elevator rooms! It was also much smaller, and since the window AC unit was so close to the bed, I could never get comfortable. It was still clean and good enough for a quick stay, but if you can, get a larger room away from the elevators!

Room Tip: Avoid the elevators! There's also an ice machine in the hall to be wary of!

The rooms tend to be on the small size but the location is good with excellent service. Very clean and comfortable. Reasonable breakfast. A bit on the noisy side but not enough to be bothersome. Internet service is good.

Neat old Rock n Roll Hotel. A very old hotel(caps on gas lights). Get a room NOT facing the street or NEAR the old elevator(very noisy, all night). I always get a second floor room facing the open center. Dead quiet, dark in the early am and comfy beds. Some bathrooms are problematic or have a ramp. Great friendly helpful staff. Trader Joes across the street. 15 min. stroll to Wrigley with great pubs up and down. Try a Bloody Mary at John Barleycorn after a Cubs game. Matisse has double bubble, 2for1 and only 100 ft from the hotel door. Italian food or pizza at Renaldi's. Stroll Lincoln Park. Have a Baskin /Robbins on Halsted. Outstanding value for Wrigleyville.

I arrived early on a Sunday morning and was pleased to get an early check in. The room was very clean, the bed was nicely made up and the unit used to cool or heat the room wasn't at all loud. I reserved one of the smallest rooms and was a little concerned. However, it was more than enough for one person.

Every employee truly seemed to want to help. The people at the front desk always did their best to answer questions and were friendly. It's rare to see as many people working at one place to appear happy working with clients The breakfast had several choices and the coffee was even good, not weak wash water often at hotels.
