i choose the place because its near of millenium park, art museum and others. I had a problem in the room because the heat system wasnt working. After three talks with the maintenance guy they finaly changed the room because i asked to talk to the manager. I think they gave me a room not at the category i have paid but in the end everything went fine because they changed my room. Theres a parking lot just in front of the hotel. Problably i would not get back there but we never know.

3:30 a.m. I wake up to a truck outside my window backing up. Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. Then crashing noises, metal clanging and being scraped across the pavement. It's the trash truck.

5:30 a.m. Just got back to sleep and woke up AGAIN to the sounds of a trash truck.

7:00 as I'm getting ready to leave, another trash truck. AWFUL, just awful night's sleep

Room Tip: Room 635 VERY NOISY because of trash trucks

Ok so as many others have noted on here, The hotel has a swanky front desk area. But everything else is ageing although NOT crumbling. There are two eateries attached to the hotel. The breakfast place immediately next to the check in area offers a discount to guests staying at the hotel. The Thai place does NOT but has much better service and much better food.

The hotel itself was located in a great area of the city. Minutes from millennium park and all the downtown shopping (on foot) and anywhere else the L goes as the Harrison Stop on the red line is minutes away. For its location it is priced very well.

The rooms however reflect that. The elevator is aging and rather slow. The hallways are dark and old. Our room was actually quite large but bad design meant little natural lighting . It was sparsely furnished with furniture that was rather embarassing for midlevel hotel eg the comfort inn has bedding that far exceeds this. The shower and toilet are very 80s/90s. Uninspiring. However a large LCD TV was available.

Front desk staff were knowledgeable and polite although they were understaffed at times so had to rush through interactions but they made the best with what they had.

There is also a complementary computer and printer in the lobby which can come in handy for printing boarding passes etc.

Overall, if you are looking to spend a couple of nights and dont want to spend too much money on a hotel room - but want the perfect location this hotel does a good job.

Room Tip: Pick a room on one of the lower floors - less stuck in the elevator time. on the side that does NOT...

Travelodge at downtown Chicago is convenient to everything. The room rate is affordable. CTA train takes you from both airports with a couple of dollars. I always stay there.
