My son and I have stayed here three consecutive years for the Chicago Blackhawks convention. The hhonors check in line was short for us, but the regular line was very long. Desk staff was cheerful and the valet and bell staff were on their game. Parking is more money than I've paid to stay in hotels before, but this is Michigan ave, so I was ready.

We stayed in one of the remodeled rooms on the ninth floor. Two baths were nice, but vanities were tiny. Ac worked better in these rooms than we've seen in the past in the older rooms. Internet access was included in our upgraded room fee which was nice as the service was average at best. The lobby restaurant was very good and my six year old was never charged for his buffet meal, which goes a long way in my book. Irish bar and grill was good too, but with limited seating.

The parking garage does not exit onto Michigan ave, but rather a less crowded side street which made accessing 290 very easy when we left. Great staff outshines the few negatives. The primary concern I had was that cell phone access was some of the worst I have seen. We will be back for next years conference.

The pool was also large and very comfortable. There is a rooftop deck also which gives a nice view of the sky scrapers and Harold's chicken shack.

Room Tip: The upgrade to a renovated floor, ie the ninth floor is worth the price.

I'm glad my expectation weren't high because I would have been disappointed. I had to wait about 30 minutes, mid-day, just to check-in. I got a room on the renovated floor and thank goodness as i would hate to see what the unrenovated rooms looked like. Typically, when you open the door, you pass the bathroom and closet. Not here. You open the door right onto the bed! I was very concerned I would be woken up all night so I asked for earplugs which they promptly provided. The beds were very comfortable with fluffy duvets. The bathroom vanity was so small, i had to put my toiletries bag on the floor. There was still a bathtub. Curious as to why they didn't rip out and put a shower in instead? Oh well. Large TV in the room.

They had an Irish Pub which I ate at 3 times and each time was very good. The service, however, was dismal at best. The coffee shop had such long lines I only had the patience to wait one morning. Go to Starbucks next door for coffee fix instead.

If you're going to Chicago to shop, you may want to pick a location closer to that action. I would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room.

We were here the last week of July for a convention. It was a largely attended convention of about 6000. I was apprehensive that the hotel would not be able to accommodate such a large group, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is a HUGE hotel with several floors of convention space.

I stayed in one of the remodeled rooms. I thought it was fine. In fact, it was far superior to the New York Hilton. The hotel was clean and fairly easy to navigate. The service was fine. The food was fairly mediocre but I guess you cannot have everything.

The Hilton was a comfortable, clean, and convenient hotel. Location is good, although it is a little far south of the action everything was short taxi ride or walk away. The pool was so so, but the workout facility and locker rooms were AMAZING! There was a nice sundeck but not much of a view. The breakfast in the restaurant was very good, nice selection and everything fresh.

Room Tip: pay for the upgrade and get a room on the corner with a Lake and city view

A fast check-in line and a friendly face gets you the keys as you enter this hotel perfectly placed across from Grant Park and near Millennium Park. The Hilton is placed perfectly if it is your first time in Chicago and want to see as much as possible, and is located right next to the red line which will take you almost anywhere (and help you connect to other lines). Priceline negotiator helped us get a great deal, the beds are very clean in large comfortable rooms and I couldn't really think of a better place to stay in this price range. Location location location, if you are looking to have a great time in the heart of the city, near Buckingham fountain and Lake Michigan, this is your Hotel!

Room Tip: 9th floor was just finished, ask for a room there!

I love historic hotels, I just don't like staying in them.

This hotel has seen it's share of history and has the scars to prove it. The rooms are old, musty and hot. Cell phone and internet service is spotty at best. For a hotel that hosts many conventions, the lack of decent cell and wireless Internet service (even though they charge for it) is a major problem.

This Hilton is a minimum 10 dollar cab ride to anywhere you want to go - restaurants, bars, attractions. It is not walkable to anywhere to many of the top Chicago attractions. Beware if your room is on the hotel's back side - garbage trucks and trains will wake you up.

Most staff members were pleasant and helpful. The Hilton Chicago has a long and rich history.
Unfortunately the best days seem to be in the past.

Room Tip: Avoid the back side.

Nice huge hotel. Checked in a day before the start of a conference and was given a newly renovated room by a very pleasant and cheerful young lady at the check in. The room had 2 baths which was fantastic for 2 girls who have to get up early in the morning. No more fighting on who wakes up first and who gets the use the bath first. It would be even better if there were 2 wardrobes! OK..i'm asking for too much.
Location was great along south michigan avenue. We walked just about everywhere. Even cab rides were reasonable and not expensive. The good thing about chicago is you can get a cab just about anywhere!
There was only 1 thing I didn't like. The hotel is an old building so the layout is abit funny. Our room was in a part of a U-shape. Which means we have to keep our blinds down all the time otherwise we could see all the rooms across at the other side of the U or the room next to us. It kept the room dark and we had to turn on the lights all the time. But small issue.
Otherwise, happy with the stay and location.

Room Tip: If you are light sleeper, get a room facing away from the main road. A colleague stayed in the room...
