The room was clean and large. The staff very helpful and friendly. It is a bit far from downtown, so there aren't many places to walk to. Cabs are easy to get and costs ~$7 to get into the downtown area.

I booked my room for an overnight stay via a discount hotel site, and expected to have a small, minimal view room. I was very surprised when I had a front-of-the-hotel mini suite overlooking the park. The room had a king bed, a sitting area with two chairs and a pull-out couch, two flat-screen televisions, and a wet bar! This was definitely more than I paid for! However, the room's fixtures and furnishings are starting to show their age - the brass fixtures in the bathroom were very 1980s and the shower had pretty low water pressure, which was a disappointing way to start the morning. There also were two bulbs out in the overhead can lights. For the money, it was a great room. The front desk service and the lobby areas, as always at this great old hotel, were very good.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the elevator lobby. Great views from the front side of the hotel.

From the smiling, friendly doorman, to the glorious view from my dazzling 10th floor room, down to the sweet service from the breakfast waiter, I was totally blown away with happiness. Oh yes, don't let's forget the fabuloso brand new workout center which opened the day we were there. Super nice and accessible. The whole thing gave me a very good feeling.

Room Tip: We had a gorgeous view of Lake Michigan. So ask for that.

The hotel was very accommodating. We were able to check into our room by noon. The room was small, but clean. The location was great and the restaurants and bars within the hotel were good. We have stayed here before and will be back.

The room was spotlessly clean, having two full bathrooms was a wonderful luxury, the speedy check out per automated phone call was a big plus in our hurried morning, the snack shop/breakfast room had several selections for us in our quick departure, with a nice seating area, and the concierge, prior to our arrival, was able to direct me in my questions regarding transportation guidelines.

I was in town for a conference. My wife and son stayed at the hotel while I toiled away at my meetings. My son was welcome at the 8th floor fitness center and frolicked in the pool with the other 9yr olds. I appreciated that they had blocked a few lanes off for lap swimmers. Seemed the like the best of both worlds.

The Hilton is a classic Chicago hotel that has been around for awhile. Our room was both modern and extremely comfortable. Two bathrooms, a double bed and a desk for working at. While it wasn't a spacious room it was just enough for us.

The South Loop, where this hotel is, is filled with trendy restaurants and is close the the museum campus. A bit chilly on our weekend for the family to walk over to the Shedd but on a warm day, it would have been perfect.

And since this hotel is a classic Chicago hotel, there was a ton of stuff going on in the hotel that made it livelier than just slipping in and out of your room. The weekend we were there the Blackhawks were playing the Penguins at Solider Field, and a local school was having a fundraising event. Hockey fans milling in the lobby with the fancy dressed party goers. Classic!

The last bit is just some tips for families. Check the internet for great prices on this hotel, it can be expensive. The area around the hotel offers better deals on parking than the parking garage at the hotel. If you are willing to adventure into the realms around the Hilton, you will be pleased at the money you will save on the basics. For example, there is a 7-Eleven just a block away where you can buy cheaper snacks there, then in the downstairs Snax shop.

Will go back there in a heartbeat with my son and my wife.
