We stayed 2 nights Feb 13, 14th 2014 in a room on 14th floor and each time we attempted to shower - irrespective of time of day (morning, afternoon, evening) - we had cool, NOT even WARM water. Absolutely no HOT water thru the entire stay. Really? Is it too much to expect at least a WARM shower as well as a place to sleep?

Repeated calls to front desk we were told, the facilities engineer will be 'right up'. It took almost an hour before he showed the first time. Then while he was there - over his radio we heard reports that 3 other rooms on OTHER floors were having the same issue...

He left saying hed' be right back - just had to grab a tool from his work bench and disappeared again for another 45 minutes.

FInally after wasting hours of our 'vacation time' we called the front desk to tell them 'never mind' we needed to check out (scheduled) since it was going on 1pm and were only offered a 15% discount. BIg whoop. About $23 for our inconvenience and lost 1/2 day of vacation waiting around for the shower that never came...

This hotel doesn't have bathtubs, or makeup mirrors. The TV in the bathroom is nice - IF IT WORKED. Ours did not. The marble tile in the shower was stained and old...
run down and needing improvements before charging what they do... it's NOT 4 STARS - barely 3...

We stay in Chicago for the weekend on several occasions throughout the year and will not return to Wyndham... Thank heaven for Kimpton hotels!

Hello-
Thank you for taking the time to offer us some feedback regarding your stay. We are terribly sorry that there were issues with your hot water-- I understand what a frustrating inconvenience that would be. It is true that we had some issues with the hot water on that weekend, mostly due to the extreme cold here over the past few months, it's put a strain on our heating systems. I sincerely apologize for this issue and want you to know that it has been fully addressed. We do hope that when staying in Chicago you would consider us again as we pride ourselves on top notch customer service and would like to prove that to you.

Warm Regards-

I came across an offer online for an unbeatable price for their double queen deluxe room so I booked it. I was skeptical at first but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've done in my 4 days trip.

Room and service:
I got a big spacey room with a couch, desk, and a fridge. The view was great keeping in mind the room was on the 36th floor.Bathroom had a long mirror and big lighted mirror.
Service was great and staff was super friendly every time we had a question or request they answered right away.

City and Location:
The hotel has a very strategic location within downtown. Everything was within a walking distance. The most we walked was 15 mins to chicago skydeck. Everybody walks there whether its rain or snow.Disregard any comments about the city being dangerous.

Restaurants:
I wouldnt recommend the hotel's restaurant. Very limited items on their menu and they weren't very appealing. Luckily there are so many places right at the corner ( noodles, mediterranean, chipotle, and corner bakery). Also the hotel gives you a 20% discount coupon to the italian place next door.

I'd recommend this hotel because the price is way low for what they provide you. Excellent clean room with a view and a strategic location on the river.

The hotel was awesome, nice room with an amazing view to the river, you can go walking to mostly attractions, totally recommended. I would stay there again for sure. You have millenium park 4 blocks away, also you can go walking to Hubbard St, a street full of bar, clubs and restaurants

Room Tip: Ask for a top room with view to the river

We booked this hotel after having seen fabulous photos on booking.com website. We booked a deluxe room with city view and so we were very disappointed with the actual lack of city view. When we enquired we were told the river view provides stunning views while the city view is a standard room. So, if you are in one of the rooms on lower floors you will see back walls of some buildings around and some sky; certainly not the city. The photo that comes with the room description on booking.com shows river view which you will not get. We chose this hotel mostly due to the stunning views which we did not get so we are truly disappointed.
The hotel is in great location and it is clean. However, I would definitely choose a different hotel in the future. Apart from being disappointed with the view, I was not happy with the wifi which was slow. Also, bare in mind they allow guests to bring pets so next to our room there was a dog barking all night. If you are allergic to fur, you might be in trouble.
Hotel staff is ok. They smile a lot and are kind but won't do anything to actually resolve any of the problems.

Room Tip: If you want any view, go for river view. Otherwise, choose a different hotel. They are cheaper and y...

Dear Filona-
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your feedback. I am terribly sorry if the view in your room was less than expected, the obstruction is a product of our downtown location. We do allow pets, but there is a fee associated with their stay which covers a deep cleaning after the pet leaves, so I assure you that we are cognizant of allergens and their prevention. I do hope you would stay with us again when visiting Chicago, we would love to have you back.

Great views of the river, Trump Tower, Mies van der Rohe, the corn cob towers. Well, if you aren't an architecture fan, this may not seem so exciting but when you look out the window - you'll just love the view

Walk to the Art Institute.

Great rooms .

Well equipped.
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff.

Couldn't have been more pleased.

We had a suite with a view of the river from the living room and an urban view from the bedroom.
Enormous well equipped bathroom.

Skip the breakfast at Hoyt's - slow service and fairly expensive - but everything else about this facility was perfect.

I stayed here with my daughter and her friend last weekend when we went to a show at the Chicago Theater. The location was super convenient to the theater and areas south of the Chicago River, as well as all the shopping on Michigan Avenue. The room we had was a double queen and it was huge. Nice sitting area and very large bathroom. It is also a very short walk from Millenium Station for those who take the train into the city. I have stayed in many different hotels in the Chicago Loop and will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The queen deluxe room was very large.

We stayed at the Wyndham Grand for Valentines Day this year. We chose to park at a ramp about a block away from the hotel and save ourselves $30 for the night. When checking in I mentioned that through a work promotion I was told I could get a free upgrade. Even though they were booked for the night they were able to accommodate us by putting us in a top floor room facing the river. The room smelled really good when we came in. My husband loved the Kuerig machine and made several cups of coffee.
The hotel is close enough to walk to Magnificent Mile to shop (which we did that afternoon). There are many restaurants, theaters (movie and other) and stores all within a mile. There were lots of people out walking so we felt safe even after midnight walking around the area.
The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was huge for a hotel bathroom. The only complaint, and it was enough to bring it down to a 4 instead of a 5 was the cold shower I had in the morning. It didn't dampen my experience however and I would defiantly stay at the Wyndham next time we are in Chicago.
