Pleasant surprise - booked on Hotwire - great location at the river with State street shops to the south and Michigan Ave shops to the north. Surprisingly large room, great condition. The wireless internet access is atrocious however - very slow and constantly drops - very annoying as I do a lot of trip planning in the room. Thank goodness almost every store and restaurant around has free wi-fi. Skip Hoyt's restaurant in the hotel - service and food quality are more like 2.5 star.

The location and value of this hotel was excellent. Also, Mark Zematis, the bellman was very kind and helpful and Wendy at the front desk worked to get me a new room with a bathtub just because I asked!
Our tv did not work perfectly so that was a bummer.

First time weekend vacation in Chicago. Beautiful hotel with a nice weight/fitness room. Riverfront view is wonderful and location lands you in short walk to L train entrance and Magnificent Mile. Staff was professional with many great recommendations for local food spots (I have dietary concerns) Thanks to Ashley and Brandon for the advice and friendliness. Rooms are quiet and the bathrooms very posh. Elevators are slow especially during check-out times. Got a great price on Expedia that I could not pass up. No pool :( but the Intercontinental-Chicago on Michigan Ave. offers one-day pool passes - $25 per person or free use with a spa treatment.

Room Tip: Riverfront rooms are worth the extra price. We stayed on 18th floor, corner room (1812) extra wide...

The location of this hotel is one of the highlights, and even if you're driving, you can find a number of (somewhat) reasonable spots to park. Wonderful room, with the added bonus of a Keurig Coffee Maker and a fridge in the room! Made it much easier for a person like me who feels overwhelmed by the amount of food served in restaurants to just go and buy groceries through the day. Wonderful place that I would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor, you'll get a great view.

The location of the hotel is great. You can walk to shopping mall or theater in couple of minutes. The room is very clean and pleasingly large. The staff are always friendly and helpful. We love it so much.

I had a strange feeling of déjà vu when I first arrived at the Wyndham Grand Chicago, until I realized it used to be called the Hotel 71. (The old sign is at the top of the building.) I had once stayed here years ago.

As far as I can tell, very little has changed. The lobby still has this aging LED installation, now just at the tipping point between outdated and retro. My room seemed almost twenty years old, with dark wood furniture and old lamps throughout. I can't say this is a bad thing, just odd.

Everything still works fine. The room seemed clean, if awfully dark. Wi-fi was free and quite fast. Room service was surprisingly good, although very salty. And the cost was far less than what was asked at nearby hotels.

I would say at the Wyndham Grand again. It may be a bit outdated, but all the more comfortable for it.
