“Decent for the price”

Convenient to Midway airport, and metro. We chose this hotel for 2 days of sightseeing downtown Chicago and flying out from Midway. Hotel offers free shuttle to airport and metro. Downtown Chicago is about a 30 minute ride on the metro and it would definitely had taken longer to drive as downtown Chicago traffic is terrible! A $10 all day pass can be used for the metro and the buses. Just had to call the hotel for a pickup from the metro or the airport. Shuttle leaves hotel on the 1/2 for the airport. Rooms were clean and adequate. Bedding was a bit lacking. I removed the "velour" blanket from the bed and put it in the closet. It was well worn with small holes and too hot for July! On top of the bed was a heavy comforter that was ready to be replaced. The sheets and pillows were clean and in decent condition and the bed slept comfortable. The room does not have a microwave or a fridge. A small coffee pot with 2 reg and 2 caffeine free coffees plus 1 bottle of water was left in the room. Housekeeping failed to leave washcloths on the 2nd day and when I called Housekeeping there was no answer. Called front desk and she said she would have housekeeping call. I caught her just in time before she hung up to ask her to NOT have housekeeping to call back as it would wake the rest of the guests in the room, but to contact them herself and have the staff leave them at the door. Staff brought the clothes in a couple of minutes. The weather was too cool to use the pool in the evening. The pool did appear to be clean and well kept. The hotel has a restaurant, but we chose not to eat there as their were several chain restaurants within walking distance that had more variety and were cheaper. If a free breakfast was offered I was not informed of this. My husband did go down to the restaurant one am to purchase 2 coffees and they gave them to him, saying they were complimentary.

Remodeling is ongoing. Our room was comfortable and attractive. I noticed that some small items of construction debris could be seen on carpet close to wall a small corner of bathroom floor tile needed attention. Still our room was clean. The attached restaurant has good, not great, food; but one should order carefully. Our sirloin tips were good and we were glad to stay on site. Our plane left too early to take advantage of free breakfast. After checking-in, we returned rental car to airport and used hotel courtesy van, which was on time. Again, the next morning the van served us well; however we always tip for baggage handling. In fact, the driver took us to a little used curb side check in for Southwest which meant that we did not have to wait in line. We would stay here again. The business counter looked efficient, but I did not use it.

Subsequent to my original review, I must also add that this hotel continues is slide down the black hole of despair. The internet continues to be restricted causing personal distress. The beds are still warn out and broken down and the restaurant still has restricted odd hours.

I'd like to add to the long list of deficiencies that this hotel has; the air conditioners. I purposefully put myself in the same room two trips in a row just to see if my notice that the air conditioner in this particular room needed fixed or if they ignored it's issues. The request was ignored. The drain is clogged which is holding all of the moisture in the a/c unit causing the coils to frost over and completely clog with ice. Not only does this cause me undue discomfort, but is potentially a safety and fire hazard. I can, even as I write this review, smell the hot compressor motor.

I will continue to request that this issue gets fixed, but beware, this is not the only room in this hotel that has this issue!

Room Tip: May I suggest the Marriott at the corner of 65th and Cicero?

We stayed here May 5th for an early flight to Jamaica. The place was clean ( they are doing some remodeling) staff was friendly. The only down side was the lounge and the pool were closed. The shuttle was right on time leaving for the airport and also returning. Would stay here again

We stayed 3 days at this hotel, and took the train into Chicago every day. There's a shuttle every 1/2 hour from the hotel to the train station and then a 30 minute ride in. Since we weren't in a hurry, it worked out great and NO PARKING TICKETS, which we always seem to get in Chicago. The staff was very nice and even though the hotel is older, it was clean.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone flying into Midway, or even those driving (like us) who don't want to pay for downtown parking.

This hotel turned out to be a delightful surprise. We always are wary of booking rooms sight-unseen, but when we need proximity to an airport, there is little choice.
The beds were among the most comfortable I have found in hotels, and the housekeeping staff was outstanding.
Front desk service was excellent.
We were turned away in the restaurant, however, by a waitress who seemed uninterested in serving us, which was just as well, because the menu was unimpressive.
I do believe, however, that the restaurant is being renovated, so I will be happy to give it another chance in the future.

Not a horrible experience, just below average. Room wasn't bad. Decor pretty old and some dirty spots, like stuff left out in commons on tables from previous guests. Things that with just a little attention should be taken care of. Waitstaff in restaurant pretty untrained and amateur.
