Yes, this is a convention hotel with 2 buildings and a scenic frontage of the River and a Lake view.
The staff is uber friendly and helpful. My husband and I were there for a seminar and booked a rorner king club room floor per the suggestion of a travel advisor. Excellent idea to upgrade your room away from convention rate rooms. We had the luxury of a quiet morning breakfast and afternoon snacks etc. also, we chatted with other guests who were attending a different convention. This is what traveling is about MEETING PEOPLE. This is an active hotel which should be listed as a head-splitting property. OK, there is the Times Square Marriott. That said, the restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner is in the center of all this hullabaloo. There is a upscale dining in the corner of the main floor but overpriced for the quality of food. The pub which we did not use is available but I can not comment on the quality or pricing of this restaurant. This is a hotel for those who are attending an event at this location. A word to the wise, this hotel is neither romantic nor pleasurable. The hotel DOES NOT HAVE A SPA. There are spa services available which are connected to the hotel via underground walkways. Relaxing at the spa at break time, I think not!

Room Tip: high-floor corner room. there is a Wacker Dr/River which is very nice the lake view is actually out...

I had the chance to spend 2 nights here and the renovations this hotel has gone through makes it now world class.

My past experience here was this was a property in need of a facelift and that has certainly happened.

Along with that the staff and the entire experience has been wonderful. Check in was a breeze on self service kiosks. The room are wonderfully renovated with incredibly comfortable beds. Bath rooms well done as well with great lighting and great finishes. The new design includes the bed sort of "floating" in most room with a ½ wall separating the head of the bed and the desk area. I really liked this design and layout.

On top of this you can't beat the location for anything you'd want to do in downtown Chicago. It's truly walking distance to everything.

Room Tip: Ask for East tower, even room numbers. Great views of Chicago River and the Michigan Avenue!

I am a returning customer and have enjoyed numerous visits here with my family . This is our first return trip after the new renovation project. One big negative is the hotel does not include free wifi, which today I find quite surprising. The hotel looks great and the staff is friendly and helpful. After this visit we talked about relocating our next visit as we always end up spending most of our time on the north end of the Michigan Mile. We are looking forward to checking out another hotel in more central location on the mile. As a note we valet park upon arrival and usually do not touch the car until we leave. Parking at the Hyatt for a three night stay is getting somewhat pricey at $59.00 a night plus valet tip. You can park a few blocks off Michigan and save even with the cost of taking a cab to a hotel.

Spent a tourist week here . . . great facilities and comfortable room. Convenience to central Chicago sights and access to the Pedway are excellent. Good dining choices on site and nearby. Large open public spaces are impressive but loud when there's a crowd which is challenging to conversation. Some noise from adjacent guest rooms was an issue one night only. However, all other things being equal, would be pleased to stay there again!

Room Tip: Try for the west tower.

Our overall experience was OK, but the little things added up. The sliding closet door was off the track and not working. I would think housekeeping would know that when they clean the room. In the bathroom, you needed to be a contortionist to reach the toilet paper. Really? The counter space was about 1/4 of what a woman would need, and the water pressure was pretty bad. That may have to do with being on the 34th floor. The one side of the bed had a mini side table which was taken up by the phone. It did have nice reading lights. The rest of the room was very comfortable, but they have a mini bar.....Really? How about a small fridge that folks can actually use. If you do stay there, definitely take the breakfast option. They have a great breakfast buffet and the cost with the reservation was not bad, maybe $15 for two. The bill we got at breakfast was $60. For that, I would expect champagne. We didn't have to pay as it was part of the package, but we are thankful we did it that way. With the choices of hotels downtown, I don't thing we would go back.

Years ago I stayed at this property many times. I have not been back in a while but the place still is wonderful. The location is superb and the recent renovation was done right. The staff was really professional and helpful. Although I was there on business you can't beat seeing Michigan Avenue during Christmas. Everything about this property is the best BUT...I will not pay $9.95 to use internet when comparably priced competitors will sell me a room just as nice with free internet.

Room Tip: If you are wanting a view then a high floor in the east tower looking north is a nice view of Michig...

Stayed here for a conference, which basically meant that while the conference was on I barely left the place.

In a nutshell, everybody here wants you to enjoy your stay. Many places say this, but very few actually deliver. Yes there were a couple of niggles, but there always are when you stay somewhere for a week working 18 hour days, but they were minor and fixed promptly, professionally and courteously. That's what I want to know when someone asks me ...
