I spent the first weekend of August at this hotel as part of a Lollapalooza travel pack. Regular Lolla tickets sold out before the lineup was ever announced which resulted in us having to buy a travel package that included our tickets and three nights stay at a downtown hotel. A few options were available and we went with the InterCon as the location was right and the price wasn’t bad (it wasn’t cheap or even a deal but the price online was the same as the price in the package so I felt like what I was paying was fair).

I was a bit worried that because we’d booked as part of a music festival travel package, we’d be given a mediocre room but nope, we were given a lovely, king-bed room in the modern wing. While it wasn’t a big space, it had everything we needed, including one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in (I'm still thinking about those pillows). We were up on the 23 floor and city noise wasn’t an issue (yes, you will still hear sirens but you’re a city, deal with it).

My only issue is that our room had two adjoining doors (one on either side of the room), which leaked noise from the adjoining room. Thankfully our neighbours weren’t very loud but I can see how this could be a problem.

The hotel is located about 25 minutes from Grant Park, where the festival is held, and right in the middle of Chicago tourism centre. Shopping, dining, Navy Pier, river cruises, they are all a short walk from this hotel that, in addition to a modern tower, also has a historic hotel.

If you do stay here, be sure to visit the stunning pool located on that side and poke around the ballroom and various conference rooms located in the historic tower (we found them to all be unlocked and empty). They are some truly stunning spaces.

Room Tip: -Beware the adjoining room

My family of five (kids ages 9m, 5y and 7y) enjoyed our stay at the InterContinental Chicago. Its near all the Chicago hot spots and bus stops are close.

We stayed on the 26th floor in the new tower (2661). The room had a good view of Michigan Ave, two bathrooms, a king bed, pull out couch and two tvs (ideal while the baby was asleep in one of the rooms).

Breakfast at The Continental was fabulous! The chef remembered us and our breakfast preferences. And the bellhop, Aaron was incredibly kind the entire stay.

The only thing we weren't able to use was the pool. The pool is deep, my kids aren't great swimmers and it seemed a tad cold. Also, there is no hot tub.

We'd stay here again on a future visit.

This was a surprisingly nice hotel, at a good price, in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. True, the decor in the "Historic Tower" is a little tired, but rooms are large and everything worked well. Excellent staff, starting and ending with the friendly doorman Will. Recommended.

What a great hotel and great location to boot! Smack in the middle of whatever it is you want to do, be it dining, shopping, attractions, you are just a few steps away from it all, no joke!! We didn't take a cab anywhere except to go to the Briar Street Theater and to Hot Doug's (a must if there's no crazy line-up :)!! The rooms are nice and clean and good size for two people, not sure about the other room sizes. All in all no complaints about this hotel only that the room was not ready upon arrival we had to wait until about 4:30pm.. not that bad since the weather was great and we took advantage to go grab a coffee and start out site seeing!!

Location is great right on Michigan Avenue with all the stores and great restaurants. Close to River North cultural section and its a short walk to the lake front. Staff is very service oriented and friendly, quick to handle requests and good with directions or advice if needed from the Concierge. CLEAN is #1 in my book and this hotel is great keeping the house in order and fresh. Nice to have all the activities and conventions going on and they're right in the middle of it for me. You must stay here. If you're looking for assistance in multiple bookings, events or coordination help, Dana Solomon is the Director of Business Travel and she will get it done. Huge resource to tap into.

My husband and I were celebrating our 40th Anniversary at the InterContinental, Chicago on Michigan Ave. We were delighted from the moment we entered the lobby area. The light scent in the air was quite lovely. Check-in was a breeze with the front desk person. Staff members that we saw had smiles on their faces. Our room was amazing; a note acknowledging our anniversary with a box of chocolates and fruit. Wow, what a nice touch. We had dinner reservations in the hotel at Michael Jordan’s Steak House. Dinner was spectacular! We were seated by the window and our waiter was just amazing. I'm sorry I can't remember his name, it was unusual, and he had excellent knowledge of the menu and ingredients. His words painted a picture that made my mouth water. Towards the end of the meal, Jorge Rios, Asst. General Manager, welcomed us to the restaurant and congratulated us on our 40th. Everyone at the InterContinental Chicago made our 40th Anniversary special and memorable. We will definitely return.

The motel was awesome- clean the beds are amazingly comfortable. I can't say enough though about the concierge Bob that works there.
Every question we had for him he had an answer for, he recommended a restaurant for breakfast then gave us his card which allowed us to skip the wait and be seated right away.
He informed us of all the ways to best venture around the city and made our vacation such an enjoyable one.
The entire staff were accommodating and the best part is the location of this hotel right in the Centre of all the action on magnificent mile.
Would stay again in a heartbeat.
