“Loved the Staff and Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 January 2008

Stayed two weeks at The Raffaello in a one bedroom suite. The suite was large and came with a queen bed in the bed room and a fold down murphy bed in the living room, with two flat lcd TVs. in each room. The decor was modern and clean but the bathrooms were a little on the small side. Room also had a coffee pod machine the coffee was awful and the in room fridge was full of over priced goodies. The staff was extremely help full and polite, the door men Neil, Jordan and Robert were always there to help us with directions and carried my shopping bags up to my room. Had a great relaxing time I will stay there again!

Visited Chicago this past weekend in the deep freeze, but Raffaello came to the rescue. This hotel is unlike many of the other hotels I've stayed it since it is fairly small. However, it was charming and conveniently located.
My girlfriend and I booked on Expedia for 4 days over the MLK holiday weekend. This hotel is about a $35 cab ride from O'Hare, so if transfers are included, take them. When we arrived, the area looked deserted, as we are only two block away from Lake Michigan, and arrived late Friday evening. Check in was the fastest I have ever experienced. Our room was on the 6th floor overlooking another building, which wasn't fabulous, but the room was very nice. Clean, fairly roomy, and nicely decorated. The bathroom was very large with a new shower, plenty of L'Occitane toiletries, and a vanity area. Minimalistic was the look. There were two double beds, two closets and a small chest of drawers. There was a mini bar with snacks, but be advised that this hotel DOES NOT STOCK ALCOHOL in the mini-bar. There is a Walgreens not far away on Michigan avenue if you don't want to pay $6 for a water. Obviously, every hotel mini bar is a rip off so this is not a complaint. There was a flat screen TV, but from my bad it was hard to change the channel because of the angle. A little annoying, but not a big deal. We got a paper every morning, the maid staff never barged in on you at some ungodly hour, and there were plenty of towels. The gym was small (only about 3 treadmills, 2 EFX and two bikes) but they had some weights and the resistance balls. Was never really that crowded. The business center had about 5 computers and a printer. Access for internet about 8.95 for an hour. Didn't get to enjoy the breakfast at all, but there is no restaurant in hotel for anything but breakfast.
Two blocks away is Michigan Ave (much like NY's 5th avenue). VERY close walk. They are across from the John Hancock tower (a MUST-see, great view of the city, but only if you like heights) and there is a great restaurant called Bistro 110 close by off Michigan Ave,. Great brunch with a French Flair and live music.
Overall, a great quiet hotel with access to the shops and restaurants. In the summer it is probably also a great choice since it is close to the beach and not too far from Navy Pier. Staff is very kind and the hotel itself was reasonable and close to all. Would definitely stay here again!

The hotel is so conveniently located to the magnificent shoppings along Michigan Ave. Interior decor of the hotel is so luxurious and elegant. Service is excellent. I will defintely stay in Rafaello whenever I have to be in Chicago.

Two of us spent a week here, having gotten a great last minute deal online. We were very impressed with their refurbishment and staff we encountered were polite, helpful and friendly. Having read other reviews on the non-inclusive and pricey breakfast, we decided to eat out (food in room, though abundant was also greatly over-priced, but the same can be said for most hotels). The facilities and location make this hotel a winner though - the little touches like a fruitbowl, earphone covers, hand sanitiser and towels in the gym were great! And if you're going to Chicago to shop, you really couldn't be in a better place - the famous John Hancock skyscraper is about 2doors away! Overall a great experience, would return to the Raffaello any time.

Great service, Upscale boutique hotel. My room had a urban kitchen and a living area-almost like my own little condo in the Gold Coast.

Great hotel--terrific location 1 block from lakefront and Michigan Ave. Contemporary decor--done very well--in a vintage building. Big room with terrific bed and linens. I loved the decor--new furniture and very clean. The bathroom was great--big walk-in glass shower plus a nice vanity. The room has a small bar/fridge/microwave in the same furniture as the rest of the room. Classy place for a good price. I used miles to buy the room but I think the normal rate is around $200. Go here versus the Drake or Knickerbocker nearby where you pay a fortune and get "lost" in the huge crowds. The hotel's valet parking is expensive at $40--I recommend self-parking within 1 block of the hotel for half the price. We will definitely go back!

We stayed at the Raffaello for 2 nights to do Christmas shopping in Chicago. You can't beat the location right off Michigan, and around the corner from the Hancock tower. Also, we checked in and we were told we booked a king, but they were out of king beds. I expected the worse, but the clerk said, "So we've upgraded you to a deluxe king suite instead." Wow!! That was great service. The restaurant isn't done yet, but we knew this going in and didn't plan on eating in the hotel anyway. I would definitely stay here again - the staff was pleasant and polite, hotel was clean and had great upgrades in the room (finishes, flat screen TVs, rain head shower, etc).
