Arrived on a Friday for a weekend of leisure with my wife in Chicago prior to a couple of days of business starting on Monday. This was my wife's first time in Chicago, so location was a major reason I chose this hotel. The location did not disappoint. I upgraded to club and had view of Navy Pier from our room. The hotel is located right on the river and we could walk to the Magnificent Mile easily. The hotel staff was very friendly and the concierge helped us discover some great restaurants.
The club level was worth it for the view since it was my wife's first time in the Windy City, but I would not upgrade based on the food provided in the club room. The breakfast consisted of pastries, donuts, fruit, yogurt, cereal, coffee, juices - essentially a glorified continental breakfast you can get at a Hampton Inn. The only good part of the club room was that it made it convenient to have a light breakfast when you awoke and did not have to go out to find food early. This was the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 in that I am not sure whether it would be worth it to upgrade to club just for the food. It wasn't bad, just not sure of the overall value of the club level as I only took advantage of breakfast.
I used the fitness center twice and it was not crowded at the times I went (Sunday afternoon and early Tuesday morning). The facilities are clean, there are cold towels for cooling down afterwards, there is a locker room, and a sauna. There is also a sun deck overlooking the river where I sat to cool down Tuesday morning. I give the fitness area A+. I'm not a pool person, but noted that the pool was undergoing maintenance during my stay, so no review possible.
The room was comfy and clean, though we chose the green service and elected not to have maid service daily, we could request service if we needed it. The hotel is very nice and there is always activity around the hotel, so you feel like you are in a safe and friendly place.
I really enjoyed my stay here and I would and probably will stay here again.
