“Amazing Old World Glamour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

I absolutely love the Drake. It's an older hotel but the elegance and glamour is still all there. The rooms are a great size. Our room actually had 2 bathrooms in it. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The location is amazing for all your Chicago sights. The holidays are a great time to visit because the hotel is decorated beautifully. Worth walking by even if you don't stay there.

I stayed here for a week and had a great experience. The location is perfect. The hotel was gorgeous. The valet and curb staff were top notch. The best part, as someone with a random daily schedule, was that room maintenance made up my room pretty much whenever it was convenient for me between 10am-2pm. There is nothing worse than being woken up at 8am, while still occupying the bed, with a 'now-or-never' cleaning option.

My only complaints are the fact that there is no full length mirror in the rooms, and for a hotel that charges as much as they do, there is no complimentary WiFi or even a minimal continental breakfast. $20 for a bagel, fruit and coffee option is a little much.

Room Tip: North facing rooms have great lake views

The hotel lobby is lovely, the concierge is most helpful. The rooms are older and smaller. I had difficulty with a larger (queen) bed in a room that was too small to accomodate it. The service addressing the coffee/tea station was inadequate and frustrating as it was not replenished on my second day and I had to call three times to receive service.

This iconic hotel is beautiful, the service is generally above average, and the location is perfect. But, verify what you are booking if you stay there, as we felt as though there was either a bait & switch or very poorly trained reservation specialist.

Hotel needs updating. Value is not there although location is super. Bathrooms have old fixtures, bath curtains, old sink and are very small. TVs not as big as you would expect at this price level. If it were not for the location, we would not pay this hiigh of a price for this hotel. Valet parking too expensive.

This hotel is in the perfect location, it is old but classically lovely and we like that! The eating and bar areas were all wonderful, menus had good variety. The rooms were beautiful, and I am very picky about mattresses and pillows being comfy and they were great! The best part about the beautiful hotel is the lovely, helpful, fun, wonderful staff. Everyone was just amazingly helpful. We will definitely be back!

We got a great deal on the Drake in the off season of January. It was obviously cold and windy, but we had a great stay. The last visit we stayed a lot closer to public transportation options so this time we took a lot more cabs, but it could also be because it was a lot colder this time too. The room was nice and very clean. Not the best I've stayed in but certainly not the worst either. It was remarkably quite for being in the middle of the city. There was always something going on when we walked through the first floor. They were still decorated for Christmas and there were lots of elegant people passing through. We felt like we were staying someplace classy but not out of our league if that makes sense.
