This is the former Sax Hotel and it was just renamed in February 2014. Many of the cab drivers do not know where to go unless you say "Sax Hotel" or "House of Blues Hotel". The three of us stayed for three nights over a weekend and found the hotel to be extremely quiet. Very little noise from the street as our room faced Kinzie Street. The hotel address is listed as Dearborn, but you actually enter from State Street.

The room had two double beds that were very comfortable. The bathroom was huge as well. The décor seems a bit dated but all in all it was a great value. The location is near many restaurants, Harry Carry's, Weber Grill Restaurant, Rock Bottom Brewery and is convenient to walking to the shopping on State Street.

You also have two key cards. One is for the elevator while the other is for your room.

It can be a bit of a hike to the Miracle Mile, but cab far from the hotel to the Hancock Building will run you about $7 one way.

They do put a $100 hold on your credit card when you check in and release it the day after you leave for incidentals.

The room was always cleaned daily while we were out. Never saw any of the housekeeping staff but they do a great job.

The exercise room has four treadmills, a stair climber and a bike along with weights. It's small but never was crowded.

There is a bar just off the very small lobby area but there was never anyone in it.

Room Tip: Our room on the Kinzie Street side was very quiet.

You couldn't ask for a better location for a hotel its right in the heart of the need to be places downtown.(right off Michigan Ave, and close to great dinning, and nightlife (Hubbard Street), the beds are comfortable, and the staff is friendly. That's about all I can say that's good about this hotel. They charge you $18 a day for internet, the sheets don't fit on the bed (on king bed), if you get a room below the 7th floor the rooms are barley big enough for you and your suitcase and darker then a cave, TV's are from old and very outdated.

For the price you pay for this hotel you can stay at many better hotels in Chicago, IE Wyndham, Hard-Rock, or other new up-dated Marriot properties.

Plus: Large well appointed rooms with a hip Vegas design style with nice bathrooms. Food generally better than average for a hotel. Concierge lounge located in the bar area while renovations underway was very good. Downside: Significant room street noise even on high floors.

I am not sure where to start. Maybe with reception taking three days to deliver my birthday presents to my room. Overcharging agreed prize and simply putting it on the credit card, charging the same room to my credit card three times to the extend of blocking it, confused waitresses at the bar spilling drinks, breakfast that one should be aware of not looking forward to. With all the amazing hotels in the center of Chicago one would think that paying attention to details would be more relevant.

Used a Groupon for this hotel which made it a better value. The hotel is located between State and Dearborn- enter from the State street side - the drop off in front of the door is covered. Location is great- walking distance to the Magnificent Mile. There are many restaurants close by. The staff was sincerely friendly- from the doorman to the check-in person. We needed the toilet fixed and someone was there within 10 min.
The room size was adequate. The bathroom was the best- the shower head delivered the water at a great pressure- couldn't get enough showers. The bathroom was a generous size with room around the sink to lay out your toiletries. The room was very quiet- did not hear any noise from the hotel or traffic, although in the morning, could hear some construction noise.
We did room service for breakfast and although pricey as expected, the food was delicious
There was a well thought out exercise room - had treadmills, ellipticals, weight machine, free weights, yoga mats, and balance balls. Towels and water were also provided.
If I could get the same groupon rate for the hotel, I would definitely be back.

We got a really good deal on this hotel but I suspect that might have negatively affected the room we got. It was quite small and kind of plain.

The staff were all friendly and very helpful, the bed was comfortable and clean and luckily I found parking about a 3 minute walk away that less than half of the price.

I was astonished when I saw parking was $65/night but I guess that is a Chicago thing. Just around the corner was Greenway Self Park with a nightlife special for $10 from 4 pm until 7 am the next morning. And $19 for 12 hours both bought online. I couldn't go in and out but I paid $29 to park from 4pm on Friday till 6pm on Saturday! This meant I didn't have to move the car after checking out. This beats paying $65+ for parking.

All in all it was a nice place with nothing to complain about except for the expensive parking.

Check-in was crazy and even after 3pm our guaranteed two-queen room wasn't ready...I blame the busy weekend and not the staff. We took a double-double that ended up being a handicapped accessible room. Room was clean and the bathroom was very large with a roll-in shower. Wifi was free for Marriott rewards members (although I did have to remind them to take it off the bill in the morning), but it was horribly slow. Location is great...valet parking was $65 a night for St. Paddy's weekend. Next time we will find a self-park and walk to the hotel. I would stay here again.
