Excellent location! Next to the Millennium Park and to train stations. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is very kind and helpful. There is not a big breakfast available, however, in the lobby, there are some bagels, breads, cupcakes, tea and coffee, which is fine.

The Silversmith Hotel and Suites was a very pleasant island in a sea of unpleasantness that is Chicago. With a newly remodeled room large enough to entertain 30 people and friendly staff, the Silversmith is a real gem. The entrance is a small doorway leading to the elevators. When the elevator door opened to the second floor lobby, I was quite impressed with the beautiful wood and ambiance of the space. The room was recently remodeled and was absolutely huge with a sitting area and two large screen televisions. The bathroom had both a tub shower combination and a separate glass shower. The decore of the common areas as well as the room was quite pleasant. Security to the rooms was maintained by use of a separate card for the elevator. The bell staff was always friendly and greeted me everytime I left or entered the hotel. It is close to the theaters as well as shopping and near several good restaurants. I will repeat the next time I have to stay in Chicago.

Room Tip: Ask for the newly remolded rooms.

We stayed at the Silversmith hotel this past weekend and loved everything about the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a perfect location and very central to shopping and sightseeing. We will be staying there again. Wish I would have known about it before. I'm spreading the word!
Rooms were very roomy and were a great rate for the city and for the accommodations. Beds were very comfy. Can't say enough good things....Check it out.

Hotel was clean and well maintained. The room was comfortable and very clean. Renovations were ongoing but the hotel and its staff were wonderful. I had a great rate with parking included. There was a shower and a tub with a shower in the room. The bed was comfortable and the room included a safe and a fridge. Everyone was really nice and professional. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the renovated section.

The hotel is going through a renovation and my first reservation (long story) was on an unrenovated floor. which wasn't great. But then I moved to a renovated floor and this was a big improvement!
But more than the state of the floors was the staff. Someone chatted me up every time I left or came back. The front desk staff was very helpful with directions, copies (the business center is closed during the renovation, as is the restaurant), and just being super helpful with everything I brought to them. And they more than made up for any inconvenience during the renovation.

Room Tip: I was eventually in a room facing the El, but I was on the 10th floor so noise wasn't a problem...

We stayed here for 2 nights with an excellent rate we got on kayak ($201 total for the whole weekend). Parking would have added another $112 since it was $56 a night valet only, but we used spothero to get a spot in a garage only a block away for $60 for the entire weekend.

Front desk staff was very friendly. Our 3rd floor room was a good size as was the bathroom. We had no view but since we were on the back side of the hotel it was very quiet, no el noise. The continental breakfast was not extensive but good enough, especially since it was included in the room price.

A few minor issues: We were on one of the unremodeled floors and the decor was a little tired. The ice machine on our floor didn't work. Our room had no chair other than the desk chair although there was room for one.

But given the price we paid, we were quite pleased and we loved the location. We would return.

I would give this 5 stars but for 2 things:
1. We didn't have much of a view from our room--it looked into an alleyway. Oh well. They were sold out so someone had to sleep there.
2. Seems like the valet tossed our car looking for change. Kinda sad, especially since we tipped EVERYONE. But yeah, all of our stuff was moved and our tollbooth change was gone when we got our car back.
Despite these things, my husband and I truly enjoyed our stay. Our room was small but cozy, and it didn't feel too tight. The bathroom was ample.
We had a nice desk with a chair, an armchair, and the bed was super. I thought the decor was interesting but not obnoxious (I was a little worried from photos that it was be too Deco for me, but I really enjoyed it).
The best part, however, was the staff (besides the person who took our change).
First, a shout out to our reservation agent who was just a sweetheart on the phone and started us off on the right foot. She also found us a better rate than I could track down online. So, thank you!
Hannah, the front desk agent who checked us in, was friendly, professional and sooo helpful. While checking in we mentioned we were going to a nearby consulate for an early morning appt, and she had directions printed off before we could even ask for them.
On our way out to the restaurant for dinner, we asked the doorman for a point in the right direction. He didn't know where the restaurant was, but didn't hesitate to pull out his smartphone, find the location, and point us in the right direction.
When we got back from dinner, we were welcomed back with room snacks (we loved this!!!). We received cookies, peanuts and a couple truffles along with a very nice note from the front desk.
Later we went back down to ask about some sights to take in, and again, Hannah was completely charming and gave us some great suggestions.
In the morning, they had a nice little continental spread set up with some bagels, breads, fruit and coffee. There was also some orange-infused water that was super refreshing.
The morning staff advised us that we would probably prefer a taxi than driving ourselves to the consulate (she was right), and the doorman was awesome about getting us said taxi.
We couldn't have asked for (much) more, and we were really happy with the price, so we'll probably be back -- and just park our car in a lot and take the train in.

Room Tip: Make your reservation over the phone (after checking online prices, of course). We got a really good...
