Stayed here for 2 nights on a gadventures tour, really friendly staff for which nothing was too much trouble.
Outstandingly good food - goat kema being particularly nice.
Room was excellent with a powerful shower containing limitless solar hot water.
Excellent tours round the village and surrounding area.

Chandelao Garh is a truly magical place.

While staying long term in Jaipur, I travelled here for a weekend with a group of friends as suggested by one of the girls who had been here before.

Chandelao was absolutely worth visiting, no matter how far you need to travel.
The hotel itself is stunning, with a peaceful ambience, absolutely beautiful rooms with nice comfortable beds covered with beautiful embroidered quilts made by the village women.
The bathroom was stunning and I had no problems at all with hot water. The shower was very nice.
The food served was top quality. My friends and I enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast while staying here.

The highlight of Chandelao is Sunder Rang, part of the NGO set up with an immaculate sewing room and quaint store to buy products made by the local village women. All products have professional tags with the personal touch of including the name of the woman who made the item. It's a wonderful set up and I was so happy to witness the women embroidering and sewing, they were also very welcoming and friendly.
On top of this there is an excellent computer room for teaching the villagers and a wonderful recycling program for the children to get involved in.

Praduman (Paddy) has done amazing work with Chandelao, supporting the village community. His work continues as he is currently looking into installing solar and is open to any new ideas that can make Chandelao even better and help to serve the local community.
He was extremely welcoming, accomodating and enjoyable to spend time with.
We were taken on a jeep safari to see the sunset from a nearby area in the desert and all of our needs were met while there including drinks, snacks and any thing else the guys could do to accomodate us.

I cannot speak highly enough of Chandelao. This place is a magical oasis in the desert and a must see for anyone who wants to see and experience real village life in Rajasthan, to support a great cause by helping the locals make a living. I will certainly be back to Chandelao as soon as the opportunity arises and I look forward to doing some volunteer work with Paddy in the future.

The only problem with Chandelao is that you will never want to leave.

We had the most amazing 3 days at Chandelao Garh in December 2013. It's a lovely old property with extremely helpful staff and a very committed owner, Praduman Singh who really is hands on.It's an easy 45 minutes drive to Jodhpur and you can do Jodhpur's main sights in a day. Please spend more time at Chandelao and take Praduman's recommendations on what to do.We went on a bird watching trip as well as a visit to Pipar city and thoroughly enjoyed both.We also enjoyed visiting Sunder Rang, the crafts centre at Chandelao Garh.
If you are looking for a 5 star resort and continuous running supply of hot water, this is not the place for you but if you want an authentic Indian experience with the most lovely hosts, ever helpful staff, excellent food and two very friendly dogs to play with, you won't go wrong in booking this place.

When I and my wife were driving to Jodhpur last week, we stopped for a roadside tea and read about the interesting Chandelao Garh in Tripadvisor and the Hotel website. I decided to try something different from the regular city 'Palace' stays, and called them. The call was picked up by the Owner himself, Thakur Praduman Singh and the rest is a thrilling adventure! He did guide us from the point the GPS stops, and we reached the 200 year old Chandelao Garh at 9:00pm. We liked the rooms with stone walls, antique furniture and old wooden doors, yet having all modern amenities. Non veg dinner was arranged in front of our Suite in the dark wilderness, with drinks and firewood, an unforgettable romantic experience. Next morning, we woke up in the lap of nature and saw a few parrots on a tree. Very creative indeed of Thakur Saab to have conceived and developed his ancestral place, and it does not cost you a fortune to stay and dine there. Highly recommended to all couples, and creative people!

Room Tip: All rooms have a great ambience, the beds in 118-120 are contemporary

The place is 40 kms from jodhpur and in the middle of nowhere.nothing is nearby and the property is nothing great .
The road leading to the hotel was without any lights and no sign boards were there for directions.Gor persuaded by the splendid reviews and opted for one night stay. However the experience was disappointing .
The rooms were not maintained properly.there were mosquitoes in the room. There were no room heaters provided in the cold weather of last week in december.
The food was average and they charged 400 per person which felt like totally unjustified.
The only good thing about the place was the PET Labrador named HAZEL..
The breakfast was also very poor.
The eggs served were not cooked properly and parathas were burnt..
There was no hot water in the room
The staff started to argue when we pointed out that there is no hot water in the room.
Even the owner Pradyuman singh did not bother to look into this issue .
The overall experience was a disaster..Do not be persuaded to opt for stay here since it is not worth it..

Room Tip: Don't travel so far for nothing

Dear Sir
Thank you for choosing Chandelao to stay. I understand that we are 40kms (45minutes drive)from the city centre. Chandelao is a small village and hence there are no street lights etc and if one is coming in the night it feels like middle of nowhere.
I have taken up the hot water issue and have now installed electric back up to our existing water heaters. Also intructions have been given to spray againt mosquitos.
Your feed back is important to us and we will act on it so that the travellers coming can have a good experience.
Regards
Praduman Singh
