What a great place tucked away in the heart of the wine trail! Such a quaint home with fun furnishings! Owner goes WAY beyond expectations to make sure the stay is everything and more than you would expect. She supplied everything that you need and more. Food items, toiletries, firewood, you name it. Don't hesitate to stay here!!
My family and I spent the weekend here, April 8 through 10, 2016. There were 10 of us, and we all loved the place. Kim (the owner) showed up soon after our arrival to welcome us and chat just a little. She's very nice--easy to get along with and accommodating, and she had the place looking immaculate.
It's a beautiful house, filled with dark wood, exposed brick, and lots to look at. Great decor. Roomy. All the dark wood makes the house feel warm. and the woodwork above the French doors is extremely intricate in detail--just beautiful. This is a well-made house, built I think in the 1920s, Kim mentioned, and loaded with character. All five bedrooms were warm and cozy, and the beds super-comfy. Two big bathrooms, one on each floor--very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The kitchen is also well stocked, and big enough for several of us to cook at once. Which is what we did.
We had planned to go out to eat one night but ended up staying in to cook both nights we were there because we didn't want to leave the place. One night we cooked out steaks on the gas grill. Great dinner. The table in the dining room is plenty big enough for 10 and, for us. made for several really enjoyable meals, early and late.
Our Saturday was a little cool but otherwise perfect, so most of us spent some time wandering the large lot and exploring the old vacant barns nearby. We had expected to drive to many of the surrounding wineries, but we hit only four of these because we enjoyed staying at the house and lounging on the porches and near the fire pit. We had big fires both nights (plenty of wood) and sat under the stars talking and drinking wine--very nice. For us, it was just about perfect.
In the morning, lots of birds congregate in the yard, some of them species I had not seen or heard before. We enjoyed laying in bed on Sunday morning, knowing we didn't have to rush, and listening to all the birds singing. The property is so secluded (no neighbors) and quiet that we felt almost like we were camping--except the beds and blankets were as comfortable as at an expensive hotel.
All in all, a great spot for families and friends. Perfect for nature lovers. Acres and acres of green fields and wild flowers. Highly recommended.
Thank you, Kim! A pleasure to meet you. We plan to return.

The girls in my family, age 20-62, decided to celebrate the upcoming wedding of my niece. We were blown away by the historic, comfortable, and very thoughtfully
planned Water Valley Inn. It was a destination in and of itself. However, it's close to hiking and the local wine trail for those who want to soak up more than the all encompassing ambience of the Inn. The grounds are extensive. The amenities are abundant. And the beauty and good vibes of this B &B are incomparable! I could see an annual visit becoming a new tradition. Thanks, Kim!!!
