Attentive staff and excellent service when hosting an event. Event coordinators respond in a timely manner and ensure all details are to your liking. They accommodate all requests and do so very quickly. I would certainly recommend this location when hosting an event.

We pride ourselves on our guest repsonse and general concern of guest happiness. I'm truly happy to hear that was reflected across all staff and management. Thank you for your kind words, hope to see you again.

We had a small group (4) in for 2 days of meetings and the meeting room we had was just the right size. Our meals and refreshments were there on time and the friendly staff stopped in to make sure we were good. All the staff I ran into was very helpful and friendly.

The hotel appeared to have been recently remodeled. The room was a nice size, clean, well lighted, and the bed was comfortable. There was no microwave or refrigerator. The water pressure was excellent and the hot water was very hot. Check-in and Check out were a breeze. It was easy to connect to Wi-Fi, but the TV was a pain in the neck. It was set up to go through all the pay options and their menus. I wasn't much interested in the porno line-up. We had to call for help to get out of the pay cycle, recycle loop. The desk did send someone up in less than 5 minutes. The common areas of the hotel were well decorated. The carpet in the halls appeared to be new and looked very nice, but somebody needs to use the crevice nozzle in the corners and along the baseboards. We would stay here again.

Thank you for staying with us, I am so glad you enjoyed your time with us. We have since added a more frequent rotation of the carpet edging to our cleaning list so thank you for your thoughts.

Don't book with this hotel. Made reservation with hotels.com and this property would not hold the reservation despite showing that rooms were available at time of booking (both on hotels.com and Holiday Inn website). What is the point of taking a reservation if you don't HOLD the reservation? No assistance was provided to obtain another room. Thanks Holiday Inn Crystal Lake!

I really care about things like room size, a decent view and good lighting - this hotel fit the bill. I almost ALWAYS stay at Marriott's but there just wasn't one close enough to my meeting location, so the Holiday Inn won out. I arrive late in the evening, almost 10pm, and the bar seemed lively and fun, but I was just too tired! Check-in was speedy and I got to my nicely appointed room quickly. I was able to access wi-fi without any struggle, which isn't the case everywhere I've stayed. Only complaints are that the walls were very thin - I could hear my neighbor's phone conversation word-for-word, but then she went to bed, I can't imagine if she'd stayed up to watch TV! The bathroom tile had a lot of mini cracks, and probably needs to be replaced. Checkout was slow. They didn't leave an invoice under the door so I had to go ask for one and the man at the desk was unable to help - he had to wait for someone else to come back which took nearly 5 min (I was in a bit of a rush) and I had put a breakfast order on my door knob the night before, but it was never picked up so I had to call for room service the next morning. They didn't answer the phone so I had to call the desk so they could go get the kitchen staff. A bit of a cluster. Overall the room was a nice size, clean and very comfortable. I will likely stay there many times for work visits, and it certainly could have been worse.

Room Tip: Get a king on the 6th floor. also, this hotel allows pets, so try to avoid being near them.

I was here with my significant other in july 2013.

this old hotel needs to be totally gutted and rebuilt.
stayed one night in july 2013 and its was in the high 90's temperature but our room air conditioning didn't work ; it was like a sauna bath!
we had to wait for maintenance while we sweated after our 1.5 hour drive from chicago. then we were relocated to another room but it was a suite and not the same nor was it romantic or cozy or nice. (we had no need for a kitchen?)
its an old hotel.
then after we unpacked; we went to their lounge for a drink.
they proofed me? (i am 60.??????)
then the rigid scary security agent for the hotel bragged about how she checks even 85 year old ladies.
she bragged about how an 85 year old lady was celebrating her birthday and was proofed but didn't drive so didn't have a photo id so she had to leave with all her guests on her 85th birthday.
omg!
when i conducted my investigation with the manager kim wicker; she said the policy was created by the ceo and a few others; i thought i was staying at the same kind of hotel from my days traveling with my family but no; this is a holiday inn hotel but owned by Pillar hotels who came up with this policy of checking everyones proof even if you're 85 or 110 and about to die.
(I KNOW??????!!!!!; HOW INSANE BUT THE STAFF AT THIS HOTEL OBEY THE OWNERS; WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU?

as another yelp member said; where do you stay when you're stuck in crystal lake; i say" anywhere else but here"!

Room Tip: be warned.

I apologize that we asked for identification during your stay with us while you were visiting our lounge and that offended you. As you know our policy is to card 100% of the time, We ask for proof of age, no matter how young you look. It protects our license and flatters just about everyone. I wish you the best and safe travels in the future.
