Stayed here as we were visiting Chatsworth and found it very cosy, the place is a popular pub for the small village so got a very locals local feel, but clean room and it looked like they had recently refurbished them as they had a very modern boutique feel to them and looked like there was no expense spared in the room we stayed in. Friendly service and OK food in the evenings but found the breakfast much better. It is about a 25 - 30minuet walk to Chatsworth half the walk is along a pavement of a very busy country road the other half is through the fields leading up to the Chatsworth estate so very scenic. I would recommend this place for an overnight stay but no more than two nights.

Visited the Dev last night with friends after a wander around the WONDERFUL Chatsworth Christmas House (dont miss it). The staff were friendly and efficient and we had food from the Seven at 7 Menu. There was plenty to eat for all of us and the Derbyshire Sausage were fab accompanied by very buttery mash and very tasty Onion Gravy. The staff were happy to chat although they were busy but all was delivered efficiently, in good time and with a friendly smile. Call in for something to eat after your visit to the House and make sure you leave time to visit the Farm Shop which is open until 6pm, and your day will be will be complete.

Four of us dined and were well received by helpful and enthusiastic staff. It was half-term week on a Tuesday and they must have been very busy as the Steak & Kidney pudding was not available, but we will try it next time. ( same with the sticky toffee pudding!)
Enjoyed a good night out with local Chatsworth beer too.

We spent one night here when we visited Chatsworth House. We had a warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our room which was delightful and well appointed. After a full afternoon exploring the delights of nearby Chatsworth we returned and had a lovely meal. Next morning after a full English breakfast which also included porridge much to my wife's delight we walked up to the farm shop which is well worth a visit and the headed off to explore nearby Bakewell which was an unexpected delight.

Upon arrival we were shown to our room and given a lovely welcome. The rooms were very clean and well appointed - big bed, telly, shower/bath. If I had one slight criticism it's that the mattress in the Redway room has suffered from people sitting in the same spot next to the table. Totally forgot to mention that upon checking out but it's not like you're sliding out of bed, it's just a bit of a dip - I'm still giving the rooms full marks. The cafetière, coffees, teas and bathroom products supplied are very good quality.

Food's ok - I would say it's good pub grub, however it's not quite into the gastro end of the market but they look like they're trying. The prices are reasonable and worth it - the steak's pushing it at £18 though! Service was good and the staff were attentive and friendly - counts for a lot in my book.

Ideal if you're visiting Chatsworth but don't miss the farm shop which is a stroll up the road or a 30 second drive away. Food in the farm shop restaurant is also good and very good value.

The big Q: Would we go back? Yes. It's quiet, friendly and handy for Chatsworth House (10 mins by car).

Room Tip: Redway has its own doors to the rear of the pub and you can see over the wall - the view's prett...

Stayed here with friends when visiting Chatsworth. The double rooms were very clean and comfortable with free Wi-Fi. The bar was a great place for dinner with excellent food at reasonable prices. Good choice at breakfast, with local produce - I can recommend the sausages! The staff were friendly and made our stay really enjoyable. We will certainly stay again if we are in the area.

Room Tip: The double with walk-in shower was really good and quite big
