This is by far the worst and most over priced hotel we have been in. We killed over 30 box elder bugs within the first couple of hours of our arrival, when mng. was notified they had devil may care additude. Pillows were 4" bricks. Mold was present in the bathroom. The adjustable shower heads were non adjusting so water flow was severely restricted. We have had better rooms at a fraction of the price. This hotel should be paying people to stay there.

Room Tip: Stay away from this hotel!!

A party of nine ate at the supper club but did not stay at the resort. Great view and sunset on the Mississippi. Even saw a bald eagle in the trees. Excellant corn bread to start. Fish dishes and steaks were very good. Good bottled beer and wine selection. Only problem was horseradish given on the side of a baked potato instead of mayo. They replaced the potato and mayo with many apoligies.

Room Tip: Make reservations on weekends!

We did not stay at the hotel so I won't be commenting on that here. Last night, my hubby and I went to Timmermans Supper Club on a suggestion of two of my husbands friends. Clearly, these two individuals do not have taste buds. My first tip that this place wasn't going to be good was that i had asked the waitress for a suggestion on what was good on the menu and she did not seem overly enthused about any of it. So, i ended up ordering the grilled salmon, baked potato and salad. The hubby ordered the filet and shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes, and a salad as well. We also got a bottle of riesling. The salad I ordered with dinner looked like it had been sitting around for days. It was wilted and partially brown, had nothing on it other than a few croutons that tasted like the two dinner rolls that they gave you but hard. They also gave each of us a piece of "corn bread". The corn bread was ok but it tasted more like a pound cake than corn. Then the meals came out...instantly I wished we were somewhere else. It was literally a piece of salmon on top of what they called "dill sauce". The salmon itself had no seasoning and the poor excuse of the dill sauce tasted nothing like dill. Actually, it tasted like nothing. The only thing that helped it was the slice of lemon that came on the plate which I squeezed until it was practically dry. The baked potato was just a typical baked potato, nothing special there other than it was slightly undercooked. My husbands steak was cooked well but was incredibly under seasoned. His shrimp was supposed to be lightly battered and fried but it tasted like it had come out of a box of frozen food. No taste and slightly cold. His mashed potatoes... Same thing. Tasted like they came out of a box of potato flakes and were slightly gluey. Even the $22 bottle of wine we ordered seemed like it came out of the sale bin at Walgreens. There are perfectly good wineries in galena, couldn't they order their supply from one of them? I didn't understand any of it. What was kind if baffling was that there was a decent number of people in this huge restaurant that looked like it came straight out of the movie Dirty Dancing. Even the music was reminiscent of that era. Very outdated and old. Robert Irvine would have been very disappointed in this place. Maybe that's what they need...him to come in and revamp the place. Even on our way out, God knows why, but we ordered a piece of cheesecake with strawberries on top to go. When we got back to our house and opened it, we did not see one strawberry. It was like they opened a can of strawberry pie filling and only gave us the gelatinous stuff. Overall, very upsetting that we wasted a $100 on this completely disappointing meal.

Check in staff on 09/01/12 seemed to not really want to be there. We had to ask where our room was after we checked in and got our key. We also had to ask about the continental breakfast in the morning. The room was alright. Needed more towels for our room and asked for more before we left for supper and when we got back we asked to verify they gave us the needed towels and she said "Huh" and didn't remember, so just gave us some. Refrigerator/freezer was turned off and freezer had 1 inch of was in it, so when we started the refrigerator/freezer the water just froze to ice. 1st time we flushed the toilet, the chain broke inside the tank so we fixed it rather than call to the front desk. Coffee and breakfast was late in the morning (6:15 rather than 6:00am) and the coffee was barely warm. The guy next to us said it was the same way the morning before. God help this motel owner make of go of it.

Room Tip: No preference...

Did not stay at the resort, but had a spectacular meal at the supper club. Just like one of the grand supper clubs of the past. It's been around for over 50 years and it's amazing. Service was stellar, views of the Mississippi at sunset were perfect. Steak, seafood, starters, everything was excellent as was Amy our server. Highly recommend that if you're in the Dubuque area you plan a dinner at Timmerman's Supper Club. Call ahead and reserve a window table at sunset!
