Went here for mothers day lunch today, were shown to our table, very basic, sachets of sauces in a basket didn't give me much hope for the food. Staff didn't take a drink or food order of us, so we had to go to the bar 3 Times to order. Sunday lunch is priced at £9.95. Wouldn't of minded paying that price if the food was nice, but what arrived was no better than a school dinner, over seasoned with pepper. Staff seemed uninterested in customer service, and scruffy looking. Pudding was no better and again overpriced for what it was. Hope others have better luck.

Dear flick4c

As we had no complaints on our Mothers Day Lunch it's always hard to find an appropriate reply especially when we had over 70 covers in for that day.

As always you would of been asked if the meal was to your satisfaction you obviously replied "yes" and then went and left a negative review about your meal with us, the situation can never be dealt with and rectified if you do not bring it to our attention.

We always take on board customers comments and we put our hands up when we don't get it right, we are only human after all but would always ask for customer feed back before you leave rather than on trip adviser or how else can we possibly improve the standards and service we offer.

I do take on board your comments about the sachets of sauce you were offered but surely in the interest of hygiene they are far more practical and hygienic to use.

We also had a new staff member working with us who had a white blouse on, but "scruff" is not a fair comment. I had my full uniform on but I notice you left that out of your review.

We are a Country Inn offering good quality pub food and we are proud of what we do. We are not a restaurant and have never branded the pub as one - just Good Quality Pub food!

Please feel free if you would like to give us the opportunity to put things right in the future. We hope this helps clarify the points that you raised.

Kind Regards,
Danny

We live locally and after hearing good reports of the food in the Black Horse we decided to call in for Sunday Lunch. One of the best lunches we have had for a long time. All fresh vegetables and all well cooked. Brilliant, friendly service in a lovely pub. We shall be back.

Came here for lunch with my other half and the dog. We live in the next village but sadly the pubs aren't that dog friendly. The new menu looked enticing; we both had the burger which was superb and the chips were delicious. New owners are really lovely and the owner spoiled my dog rotten. Great pub in a beautiful location, would heartily recommend

What a lovely pub. Sat here on a Saturday afternoon for a few drinks, next to the open fire. Lovely family owned pub, in a pretty village. Will be back soon to try out the newly refurbished rooms. Thanks guys, made my weekend.
