“Fantastic Cotswold Country Pub”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 via mobile

If you're looking for the Cotswold village pub experience, without the crowds, hustle and bustle, this is definitely the place. Fine beers and ciders on tap, with gastro quality food to boot, this was a great find for us and one that we'll definitely be visiting again.

I wrote a good review of the Plough back in April. We have been recommending it to others, but alas no more after today's experience. Two of us chose poussin from the BBQ. It was not cooked through and we returned it. When it reappeared, the waitress could not remember which was which so we, the clients, had to guess! There was very little apology and the rest of the food on the plates had, by then, gone cold.

We were sitting near the coffee machine and had to stop our conversation every time it was operated, due to the noise. We were not too concerned about that, but then a series of giant bins were trundled right past the window, again making us halt our conversation. The coffee machine should be relocated to the kitchen area, and clearing the bins should be completed before guests arrive.

The service was efficient, but not friendly, and that is what matters in a country pub. There was no offer of a free coffee, for example, to make up for the undercooked main course. This sort of gesture, along with a better apology, would have made all the difference to how we felt when we left. There is so much competition in this area and so many places that have got it right. It has the potential to be a really nice place to eat, but they must brush up on the customer service.

“Fantastic dinner served by very friendly staff”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

I went to Plough Inn this weekend with my friends since we were camping in the area. We had booked a table following some recommendations and our experience was fantastic!!

We were served by very friendly staff who made our visit very pleasant. They were very attentive at all times and the food was really good!

We had a lovely table reserved and got served pretty quickly every time we needed something, even though it was quite busy.

Thank you very much specially to Rose, who was our incredible waitress and also the other waitresses who were very welcoming!

We will come back for more tequila!!!

“Good food, poor food service”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Popped in on the way home. Lovely greeting from the owner behind the bar, ordered drinks and food, went outside to the table and waited..... Food finally arrived after 3/4 hour and it was good. Waitresses brought food out to other tables but never inquired if we were ok etc and then took 20 mins thereafter to clear whilst some staff were sat out on the front seating area smoking which was not pleasant. Also, had the sound of the glass bins being emptied mid way through the meal and in direct view between the tables, the empty casks. This has potential to be a great village pub with some fine tuning. Don't let yourselves down.

“Not the best experience”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

I came here with a group of friends and as there were quite a few of us so we pre-ordered our food. Unfortunately we had to wait an hour for it to arrive with no apologies for the wait.
The beer ordered by some of our party was completely flat and was returned to the bar and replaced. The food was ok but a little overpriced for the lunchtime trade. All in all not a very good experience.
