I did not like staying at this hotel. I have stayed a couple of times because of the convenience of the location but will not stay again. There are too many large groups, it was loud until 2:30 in the morning and the breakfast buffet is one of the worst I have every experienced. The only hot item is biscuits and gravy! Who eats this stuff?? The coffee is so weak it tastes more like flavored water. There is really nothing to eat but cold cereal.

In town to visit relatives, we ended up at Stoney Creek by default because everything nearby was booked due to a big insurance convention in town.
Had never heard of this chain before but was very pleasantly surprised. Loved the Northwoods motiff. The rooms were clean, quiet, spacious and attractive. Beds were very comfortable and made for a very restfull night's sleep. Staff was cheerful and the free breakfast buffet was far better than most with a good selection of eggs, sausage, fruit, toast, muffins, cereals, coffee, juices, etc.
My daughter loved it and said it was one of the nicest places she ever stayed.
I would definitely stay here or at one of their other locations again.

We needed a place to stay because we wanted to go to Wildlife Prairie Park, which is about 20 miles from Peoria.
We selected the Stoney Creek Inn because it appeared unique and was priced reasonably. We were also looking for an indoor/outdoor pool.
We stayed for two nights.
The hotel was very clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly.
We stayed in a deluxe room, meaning it had a microwave and a refrigerator. Both functioned as expected. Our room seemed larger than a standard hotel room.
There were four or five restaurants within walking distance: seafood; Italian; pub; etc.
The place was nicely decorated with a Northwoods theme.
The pool area was clean. They have a jacuzzi, a sauna, and plenty of seating.
We did not eat the continental breakfast, nor did we use the bar.
They have a AAA discount which I did not find published anywhere. It knocked about 17% off the price of our room.
Negatives: There did not appear to be an express checkout. There was no in-room movie service available, even though there is an ad for it in the room.
Obviously, those are minor drawbacks.
We would not hesitate to stay at this Stoney Creek Inn in the future.

We've stayed at Stoney Creek before this trip and each time it gets worse. Needless to say, we won't stay there again.
The inn itself has a heating problem. In certain areas of the hallways, it is so hot it is hard to breathe. They have an overhead walkway that feels like a sauna when you pass over in it. Your only other choice is to go outside and use your key again. This stinks if it is cold or rainy weather.
We stayed in a premiere suite which boasted a steam shower. It did not work. They do not change the sheets often and we found what looked like a Cheeto in our bed. The wallpaper is supposed to look like trees but with the low wooden ceiling--you feel like you are in a coffin. The refridgerator did not fit into its space and would not close well. As a result, there was a puddle of water on the floor. The television had terrible reception.
We were disturbed by assistant managers. First one knocked and asked my kids if they had seen a dog. They said no. A couple hours later, the assistant manager--who did not introduce himself, came to our door and accused us of having a dog. He said we were putting a dog in bags and taking it in and out. When we said, come in and look around our room--he said no. And then he started asking if we had visitors with pets. He treated us like naughty kids at first then as if we were criminals.
He needed to keep a better watch on his employees rather than harass us.
Possibly people complained about the seagulls who sounded in pain and cried at the windows. When I shooed one away--it came closer. Too bad they don't eat cig. butts.
The continental breakfast had yogurt. My son had some and vomited right there and then in the rest room. When we checked the date--it was good still--I noticed it smelled sour. The employees do not keep the food cold like they should. Perhaps they were too busy having a smoke break. When I told them about the sour rotten yogurt--they could have cared less and said it came from the truck like that. (Maybe it happens often?)
They do not have a restaurant in the hotel but they will overcharge you for a freezer pizza if you are hungry.
When at the pool--we saw dozens of employees come through and stand outside the pool door smoking cigarettes. They keep a community pack out back. They let cold air in each time they opened the door. Additionally, many small children were in the adult hot tub which had yellow water. Many overweight people in jeans felt this was a great area to bring coolers of drinks, eat food, and watch others exercising. (There was a no food no drink sign both inside the pool area and before you come inside the door.)
At every enterence there were tons of cigarette butts. I should have taken photos!

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at Stoney Creek Inn in late Jan. We got a jr. suite room, which was very spacious, extremely clean and comfortable. The hotel is decorated in north woods/ seaside theme---cute but kind of conflicting decorating themes. The desk clerk, servers and room staff were all very friendly, pleasant and helpful. On the first day we found the indoor pool to be a bit chilly (as they have a swim-through flap door so you can swim outside and it was Jan. and snowing...) but the next day somebody had increased the pool heater and the water was just fine. They also have a really large powerful jacuzzi and dry sauna in the pool room. The "fitness room" only amounts to 2 treadmills and 1 eliptical and a water cooler but it was adequate for our needs. They serve a very nice complimentary breakfast downstairs in the morning complete wtih donuts, bagels, cereal , juice, coffee and biscuits and gravy. The only drawbacks I can find are that the actual hotel rooms don't have that much light for reading, so that's a bit of an aggravation and also there is no stand or table or closet to place your luggage , so the suitcases were just sitting on the floor in the way. Overall, it's a very nice homey place to stay and a safe bet if you're new to the area.

Stayed three nights here in Sept (17th-19th). whilst saying hello to some old friends. Peoria seemed to be closed. What a place! we were constantly warned about it's crime the possiblity of being shot and the city being unsafe. That was from friends who are lifelong residents. They said nobody comes to Peoria for a vacation and we could see why.
My wife was absolutley terrified to go out any where.
The 'themed' hotel wasnt too bad but we did have some issues and surprises in store.
A plus was the reception girls who were superb on our arrival.
The place was undergoing reconstruction. When we arrived we got into our room and a workman started working outside our window and looking in the window. A little invasive we thought.
We had checked into a 'themed' suit. Ours was known as Stoney's Boathouse and was quite pleasant.
Sadly it was a 'little tired'and could do with a refirb. especially the bathroom which was quite shabby with all the wallpaper hanging off the walls.
Our main surprise was when my wife pulled back the bed cover to get in to bed.
Aaaaaarhhh! we had a resident already. A large live centipede was already between the sheets.
She nearly died and I wasn't too chuffed either.
I got some tissue and killed it and put it into the WC. My wife was obviously a little paranoid about it and I went to the front desk to let them know. The girls on duty (I think Mallory and Amanda) were absolutely horrified and called their manager straight away.
She said that we could immediately either, move to a smaller room as no more suites were available or change all the bedding immediately and clean and spray the room in the morning.
We opted for the latter. The reception girls were excellent. They came in, changed and turned the bed and apologised profusely and said that this was a first for them.
The next day the room was thoroughly cleaned with no further problems with bugs.
Sadly we had another couple of issues. The provided breakfast was pretty poor and the dining room staff pretty miserable.
No fresh juice, just diluted concentrate from a machine,
Only two cereals.
Last grumble was the banging of the entrance door at the side of the building which unfortunately was outside of our room. All night long people coming into the hotel from this entrance let the door bang oh and the guy upstairs must have been dancing in his work boots - what an infernal row rom above.
Nevertheless would I stay again I think not as we have no intention of setting foot in Peoria again. But we would consider staying at another Stoney Creek Inn in another location.
