Took Mum and a few of her friends here for a mother's day meal and to book meals / rooms for her forthcoming 90th birthday. The gentleman on reception was great, very attentive, but the meal and service was terrible. Chicken was dry, and the vegetables were almost raw (I like mine crisp, but this was just plain undercooked). For some reason they were playing some sort of heavy rock music at such a volume we couldn't easily talk round the table. I asked the waitress if she could turn the volume down a bit, but it just got louder; we gave up trying to talk. Not once did anyone ask us if everything was OK. I realise that it was a set priced three course meal, but as no-one had more than two courses and Mum only had a starter and a sweet, I was surprised that we were charged for the coffees that we had instead of sweets.
It's a long time since I ate in a hotel or restaurant and didn't leave a tip, but the service wasn't worth rewarding.
We had planned to book 12 (very expensive) rooms as well as a family meal, but changed our mind after today.More
