This is one of two hotels in Southend which I would describe as a pearl: fantastic location _ you cross the road and you are on beach, lovely staff - extremely friendly, quick and very efficient service, clean, good size rooms, well furnished, LOVELY reception area!!! There is no "minus" at all. I think this is objective as I stayed in this hotel quite a few times and I never ever had any reason for complaints!!!

My sister and I booked a small luncheon party to celebrate our mother’s 90th birthday.
From the moment my wife and I walked in, we were offered a welcome, service and assistance on a level we have rarely experienced. Everyone, from the MD (who immediately helped us decorate the table) to every waitress (serving us or not), had the most delightful welcome and attitude that it made the whole experience a truly wonderful one for our mum and I know I speak for my sister in offering our thanks. Your people certainly went the extra mile, as we say these days.
On top of all this, the food was superb and the final bill not that painful. A great day, and really we cannot speak highly enough of your staff. Congratulations.

Lovely hotel, but if you value your sleep then this isn't the one. The internal part of the hotel is lovely, you get free toiletries really comfy beds, but everything is ruined by the thin walls and ceilings, constant slamming of doors around the hotel, my boyfriend didn't fall asleep until 6 in the morning on the first night, as all he could hear was people arguing, talking outside their rooms and constantly going in and out of them, housekeeping start as early as they can and they were slamming doors also. On the 2nd night, i also had difficulties sleeping could hear a couple arguing with eachother at 2am which is way too late for that kind of stress. We were very annoyed that the hotel did nothing to ask the loud customers to quiet down. I think it would be ok for a midweek break, but we had all the clubbers going out for the weekend, so unfortunately this meant we had there drunken noise into the late hours. I could hear way too much noise and people in the bedroom above us just walking around seemed quite loud. If your not planning on getting a good nights sleep when your there and maybe your going out clubbing then this hotel would be ideal. Another problem we had was that the hotel was extremely hot in the rooms, even when the heating was off it was extremely hot, we had to sleep with all the windows open, but with the curtains shut as we has two rooms next to us and we all had a direct view of eachothers rooms, so it just meant you couldnt really have any daylight in the room if you didnt want people looking in. Would not recommend it for the summer at all, unless you want to pay more money for a suite which came with AC, the rooms heat up way too much we went when it was freezing outside but coming back to that kind of temperature was unbearable and uncomfy.
Town was about a 15minute walk although a taxi cost us about £5.00. If you like shopping then southend has loads of shops, more than a days worth. The restaurants in the area were quite expensive, we had two meals with mains and starters which came to about £45 for each.

This hotel is a great friendly oasis on the Essex coast. A place to enjoy the seaside/ bird watching as it overlooks one of England's largest coastal nature reserves.

We had a bit of a disaster with the booking process for this hotel which we arranged via an internet company. We asked for sea view rooms but on arrival we had no rooms booked despite having paid to the company. It was not the fault of the hotel and they quickly sorted it out and upgraded us for one night in the honeymoon suite and a further two nights in Executive suites. They couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.

The hotel does have large smart rooms, with lovely coastal views. The bed was really comfortable and bathroom pristine. The restaurant and bar also has great views and we had a meal overlooking the Thames at sunset! The ambient design, outdoor heaters and lighting could fool you into thinking you were in a more exotic location. Only slightly spoiled by the views of a power station on the Kent coast. We we a bit disappointed with the food for the prices charged but the setting made up for this.

I regularly use this hotel for business and thought it was about time I wrote a review. I have used a number of hotels in this area, but it is the Roslin that I use as first choice. The staff are very pleasant and attentive, the rooms are comfortable and the food in the restaurant is fantastic. For the area it is also quite reasonable considering the level of service you receive.
