“First meal at a Lone Star”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

Traveling through the area, and Lone Star was a selection from my GPS search. We had great service by Christy. Our ribeye steak and steakhouse salad dinners were very good. Restaurant was very clean with a pleasant atmosphere. We did have to wait a while for our bread to come from the oven....which was then served to us piping hot!! Yum!

“worst place to eat in effingham”
Reviewed 31 August 2013 via mobile

The food is just ok. Service is terrible. Expect your dinner to take you at least two hours. The waiter was terrible at refilling drinks, and didn't offer us any rolls with our meal. This experience has happened the last two times we have been there and we wont be going back. Go to TGIFridays or Ruby Tuesdays instead.

“Pretty Good Restaurant”
Reviewed 13 June 2013

We came in with a large group when the restaurant was relatively busy, but we were seated within five minutes. There were many selections and my meal was delicious. My dad raved about the steaks for a while afterwards. The restaurant was very clean and the servers were friendly. The atmosphere was very comfortable. :)

“Good Food, Great Service”
Reviewed 23 February 2013

My wife and I stopped here on 2/19/2013 at 12:45pm for lunch. There were a lot of people there but, we didn't have to wait to be seated. The waitress, Karly was very helpful and friendly. She kept our glasses full and checked on us several times. The food came hot and just the way we ordered it. We like Lone Star because of their food and normally good service and this Lone Star is top notch!

“Amazing roadhouse stop”
Reviewed 31 January 2013

Needed a fill-up before the last leg to Chicago and the weather was drifting toward an ice-storm. Saw their sign (by the Hampton Inn) and decided that we might as well get some coffee and may a quick lunch. We walked in the door and were met immediately and seated despite the Sunday family lunch crowd. The waitress was upbeat, attentive and before we knew it we were ordering a 3 course sirloin dinner.
During the course of the meal either our waitress, the manager or another was always checking if we needed anything. The food was excellent. My wife brought half of hers home.

The service was so impressive that I (a known frugal tipper) over-tipped (25+%). But, it was worth the lift it gave us to deal with the weather and road conditions. This was the best restaurant on our 800 miles So. Illinois winery road trip.
