Went to Lizzardo in May when they had the craft fair going on. Because of the other events, admission was free. The museum is pretty amazing; pieces are displayed beautifully, the staff is courteous and knowledgeable, and the displays awe inspiring. Took my husband and I about an hour to walk through and see some of the extra demonstrations they were running downstairs. The gift shop is small but has unique trinkets, great fossil, rock and gemstone samples, and even some higher end jewelry. I was impressed that the store really caters to all price points and has a good variety to choose from.
Definitely a unique little place and we are glad we stopped in!

This is a great place for kids, but it is fun for adults too. Inexpensive and certainly worth the trip. Plenty of parking (free) and Fridays are free day as well. Other days the museum charges a small fee for entry. totally worth it.

Tucked into the corner of a suburban park is a unique collection of art made from rocks and minerals. Mr. Lizzadro, who started the collection, was interested in Asian art, so there are some wonderful items made of jade and ivory from China and Japan. There are mosaics and intarsias, carvings, etc. from around the world. On the lower level is a rock and mineral display and videos of stone cutting, plus an outstanding shop that features beautiful jewelry as well as inexpensive items for the kids. The Lizzadro Museum has something from everyone, from the rock hound to the art enthusiast, and it's a great place to take the kids.

The museums permanent displays are interesting and beautiful, but they also host several special displays throughout the year so there is something new there all the time. Don't miss the gift shop! It is a great place to find a lovely and unique gift for adults and children.

My husband and I decided to spend a few hours in Elmhurst before his Dr.'s appointment. Tripadvisor rated this museum very well. It was even better than we thought it would be. Very interesting. Extensive collection of gems and stones. Very nice diaramas (very interesting way to display the rock carvings) and mosaics and gem stones. All very rare, never before seen displays. When you are in the lower level, select at least one video to watch about lapidary. The gift shop has a lot of interesting items, too, at various price levels. We spent about 2 hours here, and probably could have spent another 1/2 hour watching a couple more videos.
